just a thought...but were I coach...I'd start cutting players who eff up. I'd give Rambo maybe a couple more weeks - 3 more to be exact. this team has tolerated brain farts and bad play for far too long.

All kidding aside, I'm not thrilled in todays showing, but saw some good things too. WE just need to protect better somehow, and we can win lots of games. We moved the ball well once we simmered down, and if not for sloppy play, that game wouldn't have been close. Hats off to the Texans, they knew exactly how to come at us.

Sloppy, sloppy game all around. Very Norv-ish. Hopefully not typical of the way a Gruden-coached team plays.

I thought the D played OK...well enough to win.

The Offense did them no favors and special teams basically put the icing on this bad cake of a game.

Start Long and Moses now. Let their education begin earlier than planned. It can't get any worse, so let them play and obtain some valuable experience.

The way defenses fold up TyPo like he's a lawn-chair, it's surprising he hasn't broken a leg in the folding process by now

We should call that unit "Special Sauce." All over the place, and hard to swallow.

I saw some good things and I saw some bad things. First game of the season sometimes doesn't always tell the rest of the season story. RGIII showed improvement from the first half to the second. Defense played well enough to win. I am going to give special teams a break and give them time to develop.

But, quality at RG and RT have stayed the same. Center play was ok, and I guess better than last year. Have to wait and see if they pull the trigger on Chester down the road.

Lastly, Gruden needs to do an overall better job calling plays and not just try and utilize our strengths, but call plays the defense has a hard time defending.

Despite that one play, the defense was not the problem.

I agree completely, but when asked about that play, he didn't sugar coat it and hit us with the normal coach speak protecting the player. He really didn't pull any punches, stated who blew it on all those plays that essentially cost us the game, and will address each situation.

Forget about all the other favors I've ever asked you, and just do this one thing, and we will be on good terms.

We used our first pick on what should have been a lineman, but a linebacker instead.
But I'll bet that linebacker we picked would make a better RG or RT than what we have.
Why not plug Murphy in on the OL ?

Yeah, defense had one breakdown. One. Nacho Libre can hopefully step in and replace Rambo next week. I was, dare I say it, impressed with Hazlett's playcalling. Execution, with that one exception, was quite good. Special Teams also had their brain farts, but coverage looks much improved from last year, and Roberts very well may finally give us a return man. FINALLY. He looks decisive and strong. I liked what I saw from him.

This game was lost because of mental mistakes. Period. Robert played more than well enough for us to win. Paul's fumble was inexcusable. Hope Gruden gets in his face about that.

On the plus side, Dallas looks TERRIBLE. Their O was supposed to be decent, but they pretty much suck too. So there's that.

Best thing that happened in this game were Gruden's half time adjustments. Very nice.

Outside of that, not very much to be pleased about. Our Defense certainly played well enough, but that was a Texans offense with little going for it. And when we needed a stop the most, as usual, we couldn't get it back to our offense and allowed the FG to put the nail in our coffin.

Robert messing up that exchange is maddening. Should never happen, yet it does far too often. But I liked the way he came out and threw some beautiful passes in the pocket in the 2nd half.

It was nice to see our Punting game look incredible the first quarter until we had the blocked punt. Automatic F for the ST unit right there. It was already at a D when we had the blocked PAT right before that series.

All in all, this is Jay Gruden's first loss as a HC. I'm hoping we show up next week much improved and will be patient until then.

Robert had one of the best passes I've seen from him today on that pass to Paul that he eventually fumbled. That was gorgeous, with great touch on it, something I haven't seen. We've (obviously) got some problem areas, but Griff looked solid most of the day to me.
