Official Draft Thread

And it's probably no coincidence that Thompson is the ONLY pick thus far that Mayock has yet to comment on !!

That's not accurate, he RAVED about Jenkins. Loved the pick, said if he can come back, he will be a difference maker right way. Les Miles chimmed it and said it usually takes a couple of years to come back from the Lisfranc injury, so he should be getting better and better.

(this is not to indicate in any way, shape or form that Les Miles is anything other than an idiot. His presence and inane babbling is horrible, and has almost caused me to switch over to BSPN multiple times.)

Was thinking the same thing. Very calculated gambles this draft, I think. Shanny has earned the benefit of the doubt for me, personally with his draft record here. This new strategy makes me a little nervous, but if these guys are able to recover fully, this could be a HUGE draft.

The only choice I question is Thompson when Jefferson was sitting there - still is. The again, I said the same thing about Alfred.

But I agree 100% - this could be the best draft yet under this regime.

I hear ya. Shanny with RBs gets my benefit of the doubt without any questions, no doubt. I'm excited to see these kids in unis, this could be huge.

BB, the more highlights I watched and the more I read, I actually thought we'd go for a change of pace guy like Kenjon Barner or Kerwyn Williams before taking Stefphon Jefferson, not that he would have been a bad pick.

It's just that AlMo was so durable that Jefferson would have had a hard time seeing the field so perhaps the value wasn't there.

That said, it doesn't mean Jefferson might not still be in the plans if the team decides to jettison Royster but I highly doubt it.

No clue as to what we'll do in with our last two picks though. And I'm STILL a bit surprised we didn't trade down AT ALL. Maybe it was because we couldn't afford to pay more picks. ;)

Another pick coming up later this round. Poyer could be there. Robert Lester. Rambo. Sweeting.

Just noticed that Kwame Geathers is still out there too. AND Jefferson, but I digress. :)

I could see Poyer or Lester, who can play SS, if they are still there. I'm still hoping for Rogers or Hamilton although Reid Fragel is intriguing as a OT in a ZBS scheme. He's a converted TE a la Matt Lepsis.

Yeah, the Thompson pick may mean that Helu is not healing as expected and gets an injury settlement. That's a guess - we've heard that he is doing well, but who really knows?

But Alfred, Jefferson, Roster, and Thompson. Wow. Oh to dream.

I really don't know. Like others have said, you give Coach Shanahan the benefit of the doubt on RBs.

Not doubting Mike but just trying to figure out who the odd man out might be.

As for our 6th rounder.....ILB? Reddick, Beauharnais? Or WR? I LOVE Hamilton's tape.

OL? Nixon, Baca or Fragel. CB? Poyer or Sweeting. S? Rambo or Lester.

Good value but didn't we already draft a FS? Definitely a bit puzzling.

Rambo is a SS

EDIT: And well so is Thomas..... Hoping he can play free though

I know I know.... the scheme there is no FS or SS they have to play both. I just hope Merriweather can come back and these two young safeties don't get thrown to the wolves at the same time.

I guess this shows you how the staff feels about Gomes... and Bernstine. Oh and Pugh.

I kept saying two safeties all along, just got one of the names wrong, lol.
