Obama Urged to Seize Reins as Crises Pile Up

I wonder what in the world he is thinking with all this. It is embarrassing at this point. Where are his advisors, telling him what to do? He is getting crushed by Dems at this point, why isn't he even trying to change? I think you guys were a bit overzealous with crucifying him for the personal trainer thing, but all of this is preposterous. Someone needs to get to him and tell him what to do, and the he needs to listen.

he's in a tough spot...looking to get reelected...and won't make the tough decisions.

- deficit reduction? puts people out of work in the short-run

- foreign policy? puts more Americans at risk...conflicts with his globalist agenda

- domestic energy production? risks losing his staunch environmental base

- social security changes? baby boomer poison

- medicaid changes? conflicts with his redistributive philosophies

Private debt is still way out of whack. It appears Baby Boomers...who have been on a spending joy ride...have not really cut back on private debt.....it's still huge and growing. we already know abt public debt. not sure about corporate debt.

It's one big damn mess and the wrong guy is in the WH to deal with these problems. His great misfortune is timing! the great wealth machine is sputtering and may enter cardiac arrest soon - undercutting all the transformational goals he has in mind.

in the end...Repub or Dem....it has to be paid for.

We need to him some slack. He has been busy studying the NCAA brackets and has predicted Kansas to win it all. Thus he's eased the fear of millions by giving the tournament some direction.

I wouldn't want to be a Dem in 2 years. Too many are getting tired of their celebrity leader.

My biggest fear is this country not being able to afford his leadership for the next two years.

Personally, I don't think he cares. He shows a distinct dis-interest in doing the job. He may say he's running for re-election and may go through the motions, but I don't think he would care a lick if he loses.

I got an email from a collegue in Japan of all places a few weeks ago asking, among other things, what was going on with America? I told him in nice terms that we have a socialist in power. I'd like to hit him up with an email asking him what he thinks of our response to their ongoing disaster, but I know he's a busy dude right now.

As I said, I think I'd be on a trip to Japan. I'd be on TV telling the nation that the stock market is sound and that my adminstration was working hard to keep inflation under control. I'd be cutting some red tape to get nuke plants up and operational as well as drilling like hell for oil.

I would not be jetting around the planet for fun

I don't think that statement is that far off base. The worst part is, if anyone with half a brain cared enough to actually look at his track record in the Senate when he continually voted present instead of yes or no, they would have understood he was a man of inaction less concerned with his position as a Senator representing his constituents and more of his own Presidential aspirations.

Someone said it yesterday, he is remaining inactive for fear of losing his re-election. I don't care what side of the fence you have fallen in regards to Gov Walker in WI, the man made a difficult decision that will likely make him a 1 term Gov. unless we see dramatic changes for the better because he made tough decisions.

Unfortunately, at the Federal level, it appears that all politicians are looking for a legacy and are fearful of making the tough choices.

I am tired of the campaigning! Just make some tough decisions! What would you rather have? One term as President with the reputation of someone who made tough choices and was affective? Or does he want to be known as the worst President this country has seen in nearly 100 years? It looks like he is going for the latter.

With that said, I still believe he could pull off a 2nd term. UGH!!!

Doing nothing isn't working for him though. The bounce in the polls he got from his handling of the Arizona shooting is all but gone. He is a strong speaker and he could at the very least be rallying the country during a time when we and the world are facing multiple crises. His little bracket selection special reeked of 'you're doing a hell of a job, Brownie.' If he doesn't win a second term I think him standing in front of that chart will be an iconic image of his failure as President.

It hasn't been mentioned much here, but I hope Obama does not seize reins regarding Libya.

At first, it seemed he was doing just that by keeping a low profile about America's interest/involvement there. However, lately he has been pushing for a UN resolution to allow military action to support the rebels saying more forceful action may be needed including attacks against both loyal troops and naval vessels. Fine, support and push a UN resolution and if it passes, great.

But then what? Last time I checked a globe Europe was right across that pond called the Mediteranean, from Libya. They are the ones who get their oil from Libya and have a vested interest there.

Does anyone remember 1986? When we bombed Libya Europe refused to cooperate and made our planes fly 1,300 more miles to get there. Also, European countries all have military forces; great, use them. They don't spend as much money on their military because they sponge off us; we keep military forces in Europe to this day and they use that to their advantage. Uncle Sam cannot continue to be Uncle Sucker. We are always the ones who send the troops, planes, and ships to do the dirty work and watch our soldiers die, while everyone else sits back and lets us take the hit and pay for it. We are not the world's police force, nor are we the UN's police force. We are already in 2 Arab states and seen as invaders. Now we are contemplating going into a 3rd? No way.

I didn't really think this could get any worse, but I guess now, after a month of filling out brackets or whatever the hell he does with his time, he's decided to support rebels in Libya with airstrikes.

I was actually happy that we weren't messing around with that country. They've only been sending terrorists against us for 30 years. But if Obama was going to do this, he should have done it while the rebels were on a roll.

Instead, he dicks around for a month until they are almost wiped out. WTF?

Sorry to say but we are in fact the worlds police force. We are there to fix everything. We send dozens of ships around the world to take out Pirates off the coast of Somalia, train several foreign countries to do the same, use military for aid in Pakistan, Australia, New Zealand, Philippines and now Japan, and thats all just in the past few months in only 1 part of the world. Not even mentioning that every war, every world disturbance of any kind and we are the first and last there to take care of it, be it terrorists, dictatorships, famine, earthquakes, floods, a need for political face showing, or training for the Indonesians/Indian/Yemeni military or whatever those in our government dream up. We do police the world, 24/7/365. Even with Obama as president, Bush president, Clinton, does not matter, they always have something they want done.

One positive sign is that as of today the US Navy and possibly all branches have indefinitely stopped sending personnel to Japan on orders due to the Quake/Tsunami/Nuke problems going on over there. So it seems that the Navy at least wants to take care of its people, despite what the overall government decides later for us to do. Which in the next few days I expect this order to be overturned and for us to send even more of our people into the radiation in Northern Japan, without proper protection, as per usual.
