The NFL is adding dozens of classic games to YouTube | The Verge

The NFL has renewed its "strategic partnership" with YouTube — a bit of boring-sounding news that has exciting consequences for football fans: it means more NFL content online. As part of the deal, the NFL will be uploading a number of classic games in full to YouTube. There will be three games for each of the NFL's 32 clubs, and the league is promising these will include "some of the most exciting games in NFL history."

So, If you had to pick three games in Redskins history to put on YouTube, which three would you choose?

Mine are: (trying to spread it from the early 80's to present is tough)

The 82 NFC Championship vs Dallas

The 91 Seat Cushion game vs Atlanta

Midnight Miracle vs Dallas

Soooo many to choose from.... The "No Danny No" game vs Dallas comes to mind

The game vs the Giants in 82 where Joey T gets his teeth knocked out

The comeback win vs the Raiders in 83...we were down like 21 points with 5 minutes left in the game

The win vs the Lions where Taylor had the massive block on a special teams KO return

Soooooo many choices...........

I will never understand why the NFL is not more interested in its own history? 3 games per team? You have your own web machine and TV channels - why not make hundreds of memorable games available for each team?

If I owned the NFLN, I'd have themed weekends where I highlighted a team in a given year and showed full games from the season. Wouldn't that be awesome? They should also have a PPV channel where you can watch old games.

Agreed. MLB used to have an insane policy of forcing the immediate removal of any baseball highlights off YouTube. IDGAF about baseball so I don't know if it still has that policy or not, but just remember thinking how dumb it was at the time.

If any of you have the NFL GamePass (like $70 a year), you can watch any NFL game since I think 2009 in glorious HD ...

As far as classic games, I'd like to have a clean version of the 1983 home game where we came back to beat the Raiders 37-35 on a late TD pass from Theismann to Joe Washington.

And the 1983 playoff win over the Rams like 51-7 or something---Darrell Green as a rookie had a stretch of the most dominant CB play I've ever seen in that game.

I'll think of others once the coffee kicks in.

OMG....I was AT that game against the Raiders!! I'll never forget it. Some asshat next to me kept whining about how behind we were and how crappy we were....so, he left before the comeback. My friend's father, who'd taken me to the game, commented later - after we won - "couldn't have happened to a nicer guy" - that the idiot had missed it all. That game had it all.....99 yard td to Lofton, Pruitt punt return for TD as I recall......pretty sure that catch by Joe Washington made the cover of Sports Illustrated, too.

Our first Super Bowl win is and will forever be my favorite...the iconic image of John Riggins pushing Don McNeal down like a child.

It's not that the Diesel didn't get the rock in the first half. He did carry the ball 17 times. But midway through the third quarter, with the Redskins trailing 17-13, Washington's offensive staff thought it was time to eschew its conventional offense and take it to Miami's top-ranked defense.

"We went to Plan B," Bugel told NFL Films. "Plan B was that we're gonna not fool around with any more misdirection ... we were gonna run directly at 'em. So Coach Gibbs told the team right then and there, 'We're gonna go back out, we're gonna establish the line of scrimmage, we're not gonna get impatient.

It's difficult for me to put the Monday Night Miracle in the top 3, but I do for personal reasons...the Cowturds' fan that lived next door kept coming outside screaming, "How bout them Cowboys!" all game long.

After the clock read 0:00 because Dallass was driving after Moss caught the 2nd TD and only needed a FG and because I did not want to be the one eating crow, I walked outside and screamed as loud as I could, "HOW BOUT THEM REDSKINS!!!" I didn't see him for a week after that. So I will also throw in the 35-7 trouncing later that season...because I got to rub it in his face a little more.



And as difficult as it is to narrow it down to 3, I am going to have to say the Chicago Bears Divisional Playoff game in 1987. The image of Darrell Green hurdling the Chicago defender en route to the TD return that cemented that game for us...as much as I loved Walter Payton, I took comfort in knowing his last NFL game was against us, in the playoffs. And that game led us into a tough battle against the Minnesota Vikings where Darrell Green again saved the day on the 4th down pass deflection at the goal line.




I could go on and on, but those 3 probably top off my list.

One of the more entertaining regular season games embedded in my weak memory was at Green Bay on Monday Night Football.

A barn burner and the one where Joe T(I believe) said 'we just ran out of time'.

Had to look it up to find the specifics (Oct, 17 1983) but if you just look at this box score you'll see what I mean.

I'd like to see it again just to figure out where the defense was during the game.

Seem to recall a lot of 'holy craps' and F-bombs during the game and a 'dayum' at the end of the 4th quarter......

Skins had a ton of take-a-ways but little to show for it, Raiders do like that long ball.
Marcus Allen did not play, Branch (I think) pulled up with a hammy. Raiders defense was pretty stout.

The first half is out there too. Not great quality video.
Looks like a trip to YouTube is required as well.

One odd thing stuck out to me re-watching that. They had instant replay, but hardly used it. For example, they never showed Joe Washington's catch again. They did show Monk getting leveled by Lester Hayes though.

Don't recall much about the timeline of technology available to the stadiums and NFL but after looking it up you're right to a degree. The official instant replay apparently started '86 but was being fiddled with behind the scenes since the mid '70's so the gear was available at least to the broadcasters.

Yeah, watching the old stuff makes one quite aware of the improvements in the broadcasts over the decades.

That aside, I always remember being less than confident going into Skins games during the 'golden years of Gibbs' and after watching this particular game I remember why. Those inches always count.

The NFL is missing out on a money-making opportunity.

They ought to run an 'on-demand' channel on Cable TV from which you can download ANY game in the NFL films archives for $5.99, etc.

Figure how many requests would come in for games from millions of fans around the country.

Surprised the NFL hasn't turned that rock over yet
