This season, the picks just keep getting tougher. This week,Elephant and SkinsOrlando were again among our leaders, joined by Walking Deadman at 9-5. Our three leaders were followed by a traffic jam of players at 8-6, including servumtuum, MissU28, Boone, Goaldeje, the Omniscient, Lanky Livingston, and DC PC (our random computerized player).

Tugboat stubbornly continues to hold our overall lead for the year, boasting an impressive 50-26 record. Breathing down his neck at 49-27 is micks113, servumtuum at 48-28, followed by Elephant and Shi no Tenshi at 47-29. Behind them is a logjam of players at 46-30 to round out our top 9 including Boone, Jimbo, Burgundy Burner, and Docsandy.

Tough week overall for the NFL Pickem crowd, but still highly competitive

When you say "perfect week", does 12-4 qualify? I mean, that's really good, right?

Watch out guys... I warned you and now I have... gonna start my steady decline to the bottom of the pile :)

(It's based on the number of games we get wrong, right?

Wow. Thought I would drop a lot more based on a 6-8 week. Looks like most everyone had a tough time of it as well.

Eh, going to watch both NCIS shows - that should take my mind off the misery. :)

Congrats to the leaders.

I picked the Iggs and Packers the last two weeks and the Skins won. At the risk of digging myself further in a hole, I plan to continue the trend. I'm a superstitious sort so whatever I can do to help my team win, I'll continue to do. :D

Umm...not to sound too self-centered, but...well...I am. :bucktooth:

I am tied with Shi no Tenshi Boone. :moon:

Watch, now I will begin the rapid decline in standings, ha!

Right you are! Corrected :)

This season is murder so far-yeah, I know I'm doing pretty well...right at this moment..., but the way this season's going anything's liable to happen.

But I did some digging through the "archives" and this is the first time any week including all of last season that the weekly winner had less than 10 games picked correctly.

Even more indicative of how much tougher it is this season is this:

After Week 5 of the pickem last season 20 players had at least 50 games right.

After Week 5 this season? Tugboat is the only player who has at least 50 games picked correctly.

Sheesh!

I don't know that this season is 'murder' though - last year the picking accuracy was just other-worldly. This year it's simply been good. I'm guessing the accuracy will pick up again to last year's levels though as it becomes a little clearer who the pretenders and real contenders are. Look at the NFC East - do any of us really know right now, beyond a blind guess, whether the Giants, Eagles, Skins, or even Cowboys will emerge as the dominant team? I sure as hell don't :)

I was hoping you'd forget this week. Mulligan?

That's why I included the phrase "so far". Things may indeed just be taking longer to sort out but it seems that things will be noticeably more "bunched up" this season. Unless somebody breaks out and goes on a 6 or 7 game win streak I don't see 14-2 in sight anywhere-all the " heavy hitters" seem to have exploitable vulnerabilities that other teams are taking advantage of-including us. Right now I'm seeing more match-up type games than overall dominance. Of course that may change in the next few weeks.

I was hoping you'd forget this week. Mulligan?

Om, next season I'll hook you up with that Yahoo group pickem I'm in-one nice thing it does is throw out your worst week. Of course it has another complication-confidence points-you have to rate all your picks from 1 to 16 (or 14 in bye weeks) on how confident you are in your pick. Fun.

I think you're right on this being overall, a much tighter, more difficult year to pick. Much more challenging so far this season.

If we can get enough participants to make it worth the extra work, we can also run a parallel contest here picking against the spread, not wins/losses.

I'm working on a time machine and hope to have it up and running by Thursday. Or last week.

WTF? Am I on the wrong site? Is this not a site for us to express our devotion to the B & G? I didn't slip over to the Blue and Silver Obsession site did I (would that equivalent give them bsobsession.com? Cause that's freakin' funny if so)?

The Skins are dominating the NFCE! And will continue to do so!

(sorry Boone, i thought up the bsobsession thing last night and have been waiting to use it, seemed like a good opportunity)

Nfl Parity is either a predictor's worst nightmare or it's what separates the men (and ladies) from the boys. In the meantime, "Moooooom, can you bring me some milk and cookies?"

Didn't wait very long... ;)
