Next Day Thread: Pewing the Pewter Pirates

Correct. Still loses a star.
Its funny because my initial thought was they were half expecting him to slide or go down and were nervous about lighting him up. That was my initial thought but probably way off base.

Oh I think that is exactly what happened. He stayed high to avoid low contact to the helmet.

But he got trucked by Baker. And I want him to hold onto that.

I know he reads these and loves them and, in fact, it's his favorite content.

Because of timezone differences I didn't get to watch the game until lunchtime today and had to have it on condensed mode. Definitely loses some of the emotional impact as well as missed calls and things that happen between downs, but that was still a fun ride.

Once the Bucs gave us the ball back with 4.40 left, I knew they wouldn't be getting another look in. I'm certainly not the only one to say that and I'm guessing a good few more of you felt the same way at the time. What a wonderful feeling.

KDAWG, I think I speak for a lot of us when I say that I really look forward to these threads, and was looking for it this morning.

I would love to hear your thoughts in the draft thread about fixing the OL and running game. I feel like if we had one more real passing threat, and a legitimately good running game, we could have a real powerhouse offense.

OMG we won a playoff game! JD5 strapped the team on his back for sure!

The only time during the game I felt anxious during the game was just before and while Gonzalez was heading onto the field. The scared look on his face made me ultra nervous.

The OL play was disappointing. I don't think I could point out any one of them that didn't have a bad game.

The continued play calling of BRob u the middle for -1 to 2 yards was frustrating.

Yeah - WTF was going on with him and his hair and his helmet? Kept smoothing his hair, trying on his helmet for like three times. Started psyching ME out.

It turns out that he has a long history of suffering from OCD. Such that he was very open and honest about it in pre-draft interviews.

Tough way to make a living dealing with that condition.

This is something I’ve touched on a bunch. I think DL (edge in particular), OL and RB are code red. We need a running back. But not as bad as we need a line.

I think WR2 is another code red spot, but I think that is easier to fill (but not easy) than OL. And I think RB is easier to fill than both.

We need some corner help, too. But edge is a necessity.

But I’d upgrade the OL to the best of our ability. Cosmi can stay. Biadasz is excellent. The rest are upgradeable. If they want to see if Coleman can play RT if they’re high on him. But LT is a must and I think our LG is a great swing OL but we need a starting guard, too.

I think that is the big at upgrade we can make.

I knew we would win when Tampa kicked a field goal on their final drive. We were playing to win and they were not.
Bowles forgot JD5 IS going to score and should have gone for a TD or been more aggressive on previous drives.

Tampa's D was excellent the 2nd half of the season sure but Bowles watched us go for it on 4th all day and he played it smart conservative, and lost.

I could listen to this stuff all day

I get he’s saying nice things about JD5. But that’s the same ass hat who slandered Sean Taylor after his murder. He can rot in a deep dark corner of hell.

I had no idea. I try to ignore blowhards in the media that spew hate and lies. The kicker is... they are paid to be controversial. So don't stop there - also focus your wrath whoever employs them just as much if not more.

I'd like to see us replace the OL coach. He suck with the Giants and he's sucking here to
This could have some merit. They haven't looked great although they also aren't known as being that talented. The Giants OL was not good during his stint there. If I remember correctly he was the last coach hired so maybe he was the best warm body they could find.

I hear a lot of accolades thrown his way but I honestly dont see it. Hes the one position coach that Im not sold on. On a more personal level, his interviews, which dont mean squat if he is good, seem to come off kinda "weird".

Tale of two halves, isn't it?

First half of the season when the o line was overproducing and the run game was humming, I don't think his name ever came up except maybe in acknowledge maybe he was better than we thought he was. Second half of the season, when injuries mounted, he wasn't able to get that second tier up to speed, the running game fell apart, protection has gotten worse, and all the old fears about Johnson have resurfaced (fairly.)

My guess is that means Johnson is an average o line coach. We could upgrade the position, but I think you rarely see coaching changes following a winning season and by every measure this is a winning season.
