(New Poll) The Washington Commanders Brand 2.0: Beer Drinkers and Hail Raisers

How do you feel about the Commanders Brand 2.0?

  • Vastly improved, if this is THE brand moving forward I’m satisfied.

  • I like the direction, but I still feel more to do. I will/have specified in thread.

  • I don’t like this new direction. I didn’t like the old either. They can’t make this work for me.

I will add also for those of you who really want get this stuff but can’t easily access the stadium store. eBay is your friend. I’ve found quite a bit of it there already also. Hats, decals, helmets, and T-Shirts.

I just hope I never again see that uniform version they have been using, that looks more like the Pittsburgh Steelers, than any version of this team, worn in the past 93 years

They re-designed that uniform and the old one is dead, you’re good. We’re all prevented from ever seeing that monstrosity again (except for all the middle schoolers who will be wearing them to games for the next couple years. May they all hit early growth spurts and outgrow them ASAP)

Yeah, the only time I expect to see that old uni again is in clips celebrating Daniel’s rookie year and even then it may only be the black one in to the Hail Mary game

I still have my Battle Black and I plan on wearing it, just for Conn

The only reason I don't hate them more than I do is the white abominations. I don't know how the whites were green-lit other than to punish purposefully Redskins fans. They were so bad they made Teemu Steelers uniforms almost tolerable.

We were told the people in the building have really embraced the new name, so I suspect the players and coaches will really appreciate seeing the Tanya jerseys kept alive now that ownership has banished the name from the new versions.

The funny thing is the Battle Blacks were very popular and sold very well.

So did shake weights. Further proof that money can’t buy taste. 😎

Just my opinion, but the burgundy on the black jersey looks 'red'. I think a little darker shade would look more 'Redskins'.

Pretty sure that’s just lighting (in the photo shoot) mixed with contrast (how it looks against the black). In terms of a franchise branding guide/bible like every business has, there’s no way they’re different reds/burgundies than the normal home jerseys. It just looks different in the context of the black jersey.

Which, you could argue that they should account for that in the design and purposely use a darker burgundy to offset the optical effect the black being outside the golden border has on the usual burgundy color…but big brands just don’t really do that. They have their color palette that they use for everything for consistency and synergy and that’s usually it.

You know it's crazy because I livre out of state now and someone was just asking me about who my basketball team was and I said the Wizards. Then he was trying to remember their former name but he quickly remembered what it was and the reason it was charged.

Then it hit me for the first time, maybe because it was a long time apart but we lost both of our pro teams names for non sports reasons and I might even want the Bullets back even more than the Redskins....lol

Also, let's be real. A logo, name, or hat is not going to make anyone stop from committing a violent act but I guess Abe meant well 🤷

Plus, there's already been proof that removing a name doesn't change what people do. Not only did they get rid of the senators name, they got rid of the whole team altogether. And would you believe it? People are still becoming senators. All these name experiments that Washington is subjected to and none of them improve anything.

Say what you want about the Redskins name change, but the Bullets change made FAR less sense. I’m a casual basketball fan, but that one still boggles the mind.

We can take this offline if somebody wants to discuss, not in this thread, but what did that change actually accomplish? Who was actually mad the team was called the Bullets? What problem did that change solve? What is better now that they are called the Wizards?

Didn't DC, around that time, have the highest murder rate of any city in the US? I seem to recall that. If so, I don't think that name change was a surprise.
