How do you feel about the Commanders Brand 2.0?

  • Vastly improved, if this is THE brand moving forward I’m satisfied.

  • I like the direction, but I still feel more to do. I will/have specified in thread.

  • I don’t like this new direction. I didn’t like the old either. They can’t make this work for me.

I personally think it's kind of dumb to try and jam 'Commanders' into 'Hail to the Redskins'. I think the team should've just let it go. We really don't need a team song, and it definitely doesn't work trying to integrate 'Commanders' into the old one. The fans likely would've just kept the tradition of singing 'Hail to the Redskins' which is pretty much what has happened anyway. We could have had that as a tribute/protest aspect honoring the old name without the cringe of what they did instead.
 
This was in my mailbox this morning. I won’t be getting the most beautiful logo in the history of sports back - no logo will ever be held in my heart the way Chief Two Guns White Calf is.

But…

I really, really like this. Simple. Clean. Harkens to the past. Needs to be primary when we are allowed to change again. I think I can ride into the sunset of my life with this as the logo of my beloved team.

Strongly disagree with this for the same reason I didn’t want to change the colors, erase the record books, or remove the names from the Ring of Fame. Same reason I celebrate bringing back our Super Bowl era uniforms and returning to the RFK site. Even though the name has changed, I want to keep as much of the team’s heritage as possible, and the fight song is a huge part of that.

We were the first Pro team with a marching band. The fight song is almost 100 years old now. That should be celebrated not buried. Game day would be much worse without the fans singing after touchdowns.

If they have them in the stadium store Thursday night, my plan is to buy both new mini helmets. Probably my son the black Jayden jersey. I will probably get a burgundy Jayden jersey, and at least a few of those spear hats.

I had some fun tonight messing around with ChatGPT. We discussed applying Roman command hierarchy to a football team’s hierarchy. Generals with Head Coaches, Position Coaches with Tribunes, Rookies as Recruits, etc etc. I think this turned out pretty cool actually. I don’t think you read my post fully. The fight song has always had power because of the fans love for it , not because of what the team does with it. The changing of the lyrics is a mess and doesn’t work. The fans are going to sing the original version. Why not just leave that as the tradition instead of trying to rewrite it when that is uber cringe?

I was responding to the idea of “letting it go” and “not really needing a song,” but I understand you would prefer unofficially keeping the original than officially rewriting it. I can see that perspective given how ugly the current version is.

I would prefer a better rewrite though. The song has been through different iterations (e.g. the words “Dixie” and “scalp” were dropped), so there is history of updating it already, and there are advantages to keeping the fight song, e.g., playing the music at the stadium, ideally with the marching band.

I wonder how you feel about other references to the song, such as the team using HTTC and “Hail yeah.”

I realize that it's only been a week, but you would think that there would be more out there available to purchase. Homage - who was leaking the new logo before the reveal - has had nothing on their site since last Thursday or so. There are only like 5 or 6 options on the NFL Shop site, and no simple black tee with the new logo. You would think that would be a no-brainer. Only one hat with the new logo on the front (and it's not the black one pictured above)...where's a mesh-back hat? Summer is coming, you know! I'd also like a nice decal of the new logo for the back window of my car...

I get it it, it's early...but I'm impatient! lol

I know you’re down in the Carolinas, but the team store does appear to have all this stuff in stock. I looked at the pictures on their app and it shows several shelves of helmets, hats, and jerseys. I really think it’s gonna be back on the online team store after the draft day party. I could be wrong, but I think they wanna make sure they have enough to cover demand. I think it’s gonna be a good turnout because it hasn’t been at the stadium in two years.

Over here in Europe, we have the Fanatics Euro shop and the selection is WAY less than you get in the US shop. I tend to get stuff from the US shop and import it over, but the shipping is pretty expensive.
I was looking at that cap before it sold out. I think it was like $34 and then $27 shipping or something stupid.

The spear cap isn't even in the European NFL shop. We're still running mostly on last years gear. :(

I suppose most of the choice items in the Europe shop are Dallas Cowboys gear.
