(New Poll) The Washington Commanders Brand 2.0: Beer Drinkers and Hail Raisers

How do you feel about the Commanders Brand 2.0?

  • Vastly improved, if this is THE brand moving forward I’m satisfied.

  • I like the direction, but I still feel more to do. I will/have specified in thread.

  • I don’t like this new direction. I didn’t like the old either. They can’t make this work for me.

I really don't care anymore about the logo. We're not getting the Redskins logo back and we're not going to change to red wolves so I just got to accept whatever the hell they do.

It's out of my hands

Honestly, I like the W with a spear through it. I also liked the W with the feathers we saw DQ wearing a while back for the same reason. It feels more like our brand.

It took me a minute to figure out why you guys all hate it, but I guess I can see the complaint about the weird perspective, still a cool concept though.

Would those of you who dislike that logo like it better with one of these perspective fixes? Maybe that would be better?

Honestly I dig it, feels like a good mix of old and new. I guess I’m alone on that.

I checked the episode, that spear is there (at 0:44):

So I guess the spear being part of the new branding is confirmed? If so, I like it!

I do agree that would be better, but I dig it anyway, feels like a good mix of old and new. I guess I’m alone on that.

I hate to break it to Adam in that tweet, but sadly, it doesn't look like an impossibility. I tried putting the Penrose stairs on a t-shirt, and it looks like they can send me one for $30 (man, that's pricey). If they can put Penrose stairs on a t-shirt, I'd give it a good 70% chance that clothing manufacturers can find a way to put a spear with an impossible plane of existence on a t-shirt too.

I am hoping this is a lot of misdirection as this tweet indicates. I honestly think we have significantly better people at all levels of this organization now. This will be handled much better than the last time we had a major branding roll out.

Will it be perfect and everyone love it? No - because it isn’t the Redskins or our beloved logo. However, I do believe the majority of us will be on the “definite improvement” to “absolutely thrilled” spectrum.

The problem is they’re already thinking of the W as a taco holder instead of a 2D font, I did not have that reaction at first but see it now.

The more I look at it, the more I like it, and really, as a logo, the “impossible plane of existence” version looks better than the ones Adam “fixed.”

I also saw people complain it’s Indian themed, but that’s wrong, spears are universal weapons, existing across cultures.

I hope it’s real, even if it’s just an alternate. The spear is a smart way to tie the old and new brand together.

Very true, as long as they don't add a feather to the spear no one should complain (although I wouldn't). Of course, one could say that AK-47s are universal weapons that exist across cultures too. ;)

No.

It’s a bad concept IMO. The perspective fixes you referenced only drag the thing out of mockery level bad.

It is impossible for me to unsee the taco holder so the original version looks very sloppy to my eye. The “fixed” versions are too busy and diminishes the ONLY good thing the taco holder has going for itself - simplicity.

Eye of the beholder. I understand why you feel different.

Either way I don’t think this thing is what we’ll see later today. I’m excited to see how the spear is incorporated into a uniform set but my sense is this ain’t it

😂😂😂
I’m not disappointed, but only because I didn’t get my hopes up at all. They kept pumping up a “surprise“ that I knew they couldn’t deliver. I mean, is the spear supposed to be the surprise? Because everybody’s known about that for a while. Darker burgundy? Super Bowl era look? These wouldn’t be a surprise either. Maybe I’m just jaded though, because the only thing they could do that would be a pleasant surprise for me is something I’ve been told will never happen. There’s no lipstick you can put on the current pig that’s going to save it, but man, is this really the best they could come up with?? Hope not.

Is Homage an authorized NFL seller? Or is this a seller trying to cash in on timing?

AI says yes, and that they specialize in retro themed apparel.

But I still dont think that neccesarily means that is a logo we will be using.

For instance, I dont think the Bears will be using this:

The NFL knows the team has a scheduled event to reveal new branding stuff.

They are the richest sports organization in America.

They can’t keep random websites no one’s ever heard of from leaking things before the big announcement? Feels doubtful.

Put another way…wtf is Homage? Not an officially licensed seller, surely. Is it like Red Bubble and they just sell whatever screen printed shit and move servers when they get sued?

I would guess that that little niche company named Nike might have a problem with this. 😉
