Chris indeed…which was part of the impetus for the new Poll here.

I want to see if the X crowd is truly representative of the fan base as a whole, because I believe X pivots extremely negative on just about every topic….including this one. As has been discussed here many times before…I think none of this is going to resonate with the most entrenched diehards. The team and the larger NFL for that matter can’t give them what they want…so they are just going to have to wait them out.

I keep hoping they come out with something that gets the majority fired up.

I think it's definitely better than the current logo but unsure that it's a "game changer" and is also most likely a way to see draft day merch increase and will disappear. Incorporating a spear back into the design is somewhat refreshing throwing back to the Redskins heritage, if they bring back the spear on the helmet I think that will go along way to placating some including myself. I also wonder over time if it doesn't get closer to the original name without utilizing Redskins or if Commanders isn't scrapped completely by the time the new stadium opens.

The image in question feels like accent branding that you'd throw on an email graphic rather than an actual "logo" in a team sense, not that I don't think the spear is in play, it totally is, just this isn't the type of graphic that'd go on a helmet IMO.

I tend to agree. That logo won’t be on a helmet but I’m putting the odds high that the spear ends up on the alternate helmet.

In addition to the jersey stock being liquidated the black alt helmet with the numbers has been nowhere to be found in the team store for a while.

Yeah, I bought the burgundy "W" baseball cap, and my neighbor friend gave me a "Hail Yeah" t-shirt with the feather on it and a floppy hat that matches, but I can't go any farther than that...unless it's completely badass without the C-word on it.
Spears don't do it, reminds me of FSU and Spurrier probably hated those helmets--I know I did.

There are three stars on the D.C. Flag. I don’t see Dallas at all in the context these are being used. Stars were used in Greco-Roman artwork.

As for Tuddy…who knows what they are going to do with him. Maybe he gets a redesign also.

Three stars on the flag, two on the logo? Eh. A star is a division rivals logo, I am not a fan of the stars

If you are going to use the DC flag as some component of franchise logo, it needs to be obvious. The substitution of one of the stars in that lame logo effort doesn't work. And yeah, when folks think stars on an NFL helmet, they think Dallas.

I don't know why, if you are determined to move away from the 'W' (which I think polling suggests most fans are okay with), why not just use a gold version of the DC flag on a burgundy helmet?

I guess I get the attempt to shift to some kind of Roman theme, because no one currently knows WHAT a 'Commander' is or is supposed to be. But I think the bigger issue is the stubborn insistence on sticking with a name that very few support, and then these awkward attempts to somehow make it all work.

It's cringe.

I believe Josh Harris in an interview said that the military commanders theme will also be part of the branding going forward. It’s possible that the stars are meant to signify that as opposed to the DC flag. And while the Dallas Cowboys certainly do not own the star, I have to agree I would not like to see stars anywhere on our helmets.
My personal preference for the helmet would be to go to the old school spear look, but not sure that’s going to fly since it will be called NA imagery by some. Perhaps this new logo is testing the waters in that regard. Otherwise though, I’m OK sticking with the taco holder even though it bothers me that it came from Snyder.

The unfortunate thing is, I have to assume that the graphics the team floats from what I assume are consultant groups they've hired are almost always amatuerish and sub-par. I've seen outstanding work done by FAN artists on social media that is far superior to anything these high-cost brand expert companies seem to be able to produce.

While some may like the *idea* of incorporating the spear into a logo, the latest effort to do so is just poorly executed.

This is the best a multi-billion dollar franchise can come up with?

IMHO these stars flank the center logo similar to the way someone in the armed forces has stars accenting their rank. This is the insignia of a Naval Commander, it's their actual rank

Personally, i think they should choose a particular direction and go with it, instead of blending multiple possible definitions of 'Commander' but that's not a huge deal i guess. At a minimum they're showing what we originally rolled out with wasn't good enough. I don't think we're at a final product either.... this was the Ravens first helmet:

They've done the right (and very easy) thing in appearing to go full time to the Super Bowl Era uniforms. It was a no brainer. It's by far the best look that's been worn under this team name. I tend to agree that we don't need the star, and it's synonymous with Dallas in pretty much any context. Feels like an unnecessary addition personally. The DC flag is represented in the crest with the 3 stars, leave it there if you want it somewhere. I'm still not a huge fan of that crest, but it's not a disaster either.

All that said, I don't think these are what is going to ultimately be the helmet logo. I think it's going to remain the current 'W' for the time being. I would like to see some tweaks to the design, but as Chris pointed out in response to my thoughts on the burgundy inlay of the letter, the contrast tends to be a bit thrown off.

I do find it interesting that anytime a new change is introduced, even ones that people claim they want to see (like the Spear) the anger about the whole situation seems to boil up again. The team is met with hostility no matter what they do.

People don’t like it the way it is…but they don’t want it changed either…unless it’s changed to the way they want it changed…but nobody knows exactly what that is.

Oh well…
