I was watching this original haka dance on YouTube and it made me think about us.



I'm not saying we should copy that, but I think it would be really cool if the fans in the stadium adopted something new to reflect our older traditions and our new military warrior theme. We could do burgundy and gold face paint and some sort of Native American war dance or other thing that was uniquely ours.

If you look at some of the college teams they have similar unique traditions such as VT's Enter the Sandman. Imagine the entire new stadium rocking to a completely new tradition and theme like that!



I'm sick and tired of hearing the Crazy Train intro and we need something new that everybody, or most people, can relate to. We need better music in the stands. Is a great opportunity to define our future identity as a team

I don't think it should be based around a Commander's theme I think it should be based around a Warrior theme to tie both our Legacy heritage as well as our current quasi military theme

Just thinking out loud here, we need a new identity in my opinion.

I've grown to accept and like a lot of the rebranding. "Hail to the Commanders" sucks. Screams of the "duct tape over the name and just wrote 'Commanders' job Snyder did"

They should do a song around Raise Hail.

Hard pass on scrapping the fight song, they have taken enough from us already, and it’s part of our legacy going back to the early years.

My first experience as a fan was learning the fight song in 1st grade music class at Eva Turner Elementary school in the lead up to Super Bowl XXII, and now my daughter just turned 3 and she loves to sing it—I taught her to sing a hybrid of the old and new: “Hail to the Commanders, hail victory, Braves on the warpath, fight for old DC.” This kind of tradition really matters.

That said, I do think the fight song needs improvement, and I see no problem with updating it as it has evolved over the years. In particular the “fight for our commanders” line is trash, which is why we still sing “Braves on the warpath” in my house. I haven’t been to the stadium in a while, but I’ll bet many fans do the same.

Pro HTTR here. I have to guess that the majority of the fans in the stadium (at least the Washington fans) sing the original lyrics. I know I would.

The C* word is forbidden in my house along with anything associated with Dan Snyder's brand. And my kids were raised on the only fight song, not that abomination they try to pass off as one today. And the whole "Left hand up" thing....seriously? Get that BS outta here..

The idea that you'd throw away 90+ years of history/tradition out the window and then watch as the league and media attempt to erase it should piss any long time fan off.
If that doesn't bother you...then you were really nothing more than a casual fan to begin with.

Our history did not begin with Joe Gibbs and end with Dan Snyder. We were Singing “Hail to the Redskins” and winning championships before most of us were born. Our 100th anniversary is in 2032. Why not take all the names down from the Ring of Fame and unretire #33 and #49 while we’re at it?

Funny, I have reluctantly accepted the C word over time but when speaking about the team I still call them the Redskins. The people I am talking to often correct me and never acknowledge their comment.

I guess some would say it hasn't really been erased, because it will always be in the history books but, what still gets me is this Kansas City thing. 1000%. If Dan Snyder was never the owner, we would still be the Redskins. I have no idea why Cleveland changed. The Chiefs and Braves still doing the chop and no one caring is glaring.

This is exactly where I'm at!! I mix up the merch on Game days and off days,, wearing both Redskins and Commanders gear. But I still and will always refer to them as the Redskins when talking about them. Sorry but it's in my fan DNA!! Hail!

I was a season ticket holder for 20 years up until about five years ago when we gave them up. I realize that the era of the Redskins name is gone. The one thing I would like to see returned is the fight song at the games. I know shortly after the name changed, they had some goofy ass version of it that everyone hated. I haven’t been to a game in the Josh Harris era, but I did hear an instrumental version of some sort playing at one point this year. But the lyrics need to come back.

The lyrics for the fight song can easily be changed. They were changed once before from “fight for old Dixie“ to “fight for old DC.” The only change would be from “Hail to the Redskins” to “Hail the Commanders.” Just remove “the” from the chorus to make it flow.
