Tonight, I'm more disappointed in the outcome of a baseball game than I've been since 1992. And that's OK. To be seriously disappointed by a loss on September 20th, you have to be playing meaningful games on September 20th. But this sucks...and hard.
We blew a 2-run lead in the 9th, and lost on a solo jack in the 10th by Joey Votto. That's bad enough in itself. But the Reds hit McCutchen high and hard again. Flashback to last year...
McCutchen gets drilled by Aroldis Chapman with a 100 MPH fastball that would have hit him in the face if not for his quick reaction. As it was, it hit him high on the shoulder. The umpire immediately warns both benches, taking away the Bucs opportunity to retaliate.
The Reds come out the next day, and hit our leadoff man, prompting ANOTHER warning to both benches. Again, taking away our opportunity to respond.
Tonight, the same thing happened. The MVP gets hit in the shoulder blade, and immediately both benches are warned. Melancon was warming up already. I'd have left Liriano in to start the 9th, and hammered the **** out of their leadoff man up high. Liriano gets tossed, and you bring in your closer. Problem solved.
Clint Hurdle needs to stop letting the Reds intimidate us. They throw at our star player's head at 100 MPH, because they know we have too much class to do the same. **** that. If A.J. Burnett retires the first two batters tomorrow, I want one in Votto's earhole. I bet that **** would stop then.
F the Reds. LET'S GO BUCS!!!
