By the middle of last season it was clear that McNabb was done as a starting quarterback you could plan an offense around. The fact he was resistant to change in the scheme from what he was used to just showed his insecurity.
At 34, the Vikings bought themselves a placeholder until Ponder or a veteran free agent/trade becomes available.
Of course, they got him for two #6 picks, which is a helluva lot better deal than the Redskins made to get him.
But for a washed up qb, two #6 picks is what he is worth at this point.
Reid knew he could no longer win with #5.
