Kyle Shanahan Possibly Facing Suspension

I am trying to find out what I heard bc I swear that's what I heard on the radio. But wiki backs you up. I must have heard wrong. Still, I think we can all agree Roger is an arrogant douche, yes? :)

First, it wasn't a 20 yard penalty. Kyle got 15 that was tacked on to the 5 we got for false start.

Until reading this thought it was on RG3 for throwing ball downfield.

If NFL wants to use the replacement ref's, then coaches should have the right to voice their opinion just like with regular ones.

Goodell is under no pressure to get regular refs back, unless fans stop going or watching games.

Thats what I thought, but they've specifically mentioned multiple times that the penalty on Kyle was assessed at 20 yards, in addition to the 5 yard false start.

Again, I haven't reviewed the game. You may be 100% right. Just reporting what the radio has been saying.

Just a side comment - not going to the games wont matter at all. The teams got all their money back in March for all 10 home games (including 2 preseason games). the lack of fans in the stands may make an impact but I doubt it, it's the money that talks.

Well, I suppose that's a valid point, however I was speaking more towards personal conduct that shouldn't be tolerated ever. I mean, if your normal starbucks' coffee girl is out, and her replacement effs up your order, do you curse her out? Lol.

How bout if your local starbucks replacement effs up your order, and everyone else's, three weeks in a row?

At that point, it's on starbucks to pay your old barista enough to make her quit the strip club and come back.

:pimp:

Can we sticky a "Goodell is the worst person in the world" thread and mail him the contents on a weekly basis?

Some brevity, for you good folks.

I was wrong. Heard several reports they did mark off 20 yards.

Did they ever run off the 10 seconds for our offensive injury? I know clock was at 1:07 and never changed.

No and the Refs explained why, but I can't remember what the reason was... :beam:

No, they didn't

The reason was someone convinced them not to. They should have though.

So... from that game alone, we have, at a minimum:
- blatantly missed face mask
- not running 10 seconds off the clock for an injury
- thinking 10 seconds should come off at the end for a false start penalty when the clock was stopped, causing teams to enter the field and Kyle to lose his mind, giving us an unsportsmanlike penalty
- marking the unsportsmanlike penalty off as a 20 yard penalty
- missing the josh wilson rumble recovery for a TD
- not rewinding the game clock after incorrectly labeling it 2nd and 3 (i think?) when it was 1st and 10, wasting 15 seconds off teh game clock, causing us to burn 1 of our Time Outs in the 2nd half.

some of these are stupid little things you see missed around the league week in week out, it's a bit much it all happened in one game, but half of these are 'whatever' type misses.

But most are basic game-administration screw ups that make a huge difference and should not happen under any circumstance.

I am *not* blaming the refs for us losing. We lost because our defense sucks. Just wanted to add that at the end to make it clear I'm just pointing out that these refs do indeed suck (despite my thinking they wouldn't be that bad when the season started. clearly i was wrong)

1) They did give Kyle a 20-yard penalty (or, more accurately, pushed us back 25 yards for 20 yards' worth of penalties). We were at the Bengals' 34, then with Sleepy's false start and Kyle's unsportsmanlike conduct, they put us back at our own 41 rather than our 46. Those five yards could have made a huge difference b/c a throw that has to go 65 yards in the air is very different from a throw that has to go 60.

2) The decision on Vilma was not even as Vilma-favorable as Neophyte's helpful characterization. The appeals panel held that Goodell had no jurisdiction to issue a salary cap-related penalty, so it vacated the penalty apparently imposed on multiple grounds and asked Goodell to clarify what penalty he was imposing for solely non-salary cap related matters. Thus, not only was there no finding of innocence, there was not the slightest implication that Goodell lacked (or, for that matter, possessed) sufficient evidence to support the penalty based on non-salary cap related conduct. (On the other hand, the fact that Goodell hasn't just summarily reimposed the penalty suggests he's realized that he may have gone too far, or at least that he'd rather use the haziness as leverage/cover to get some cooperation/communication from the NFLPA/Saints, which would lead him to be willing to compromise, once they've knuckled under.)

Actually, this is incorrect, sir. The arbitrator upheld Goodell hearing the appeal but this ruling was over turned by the independent panel, meaning that Goodell cannot hear the appeal. They reinstated the players pending a new decision from Goodell with the statement that a new suspension for these players should be accompanied by sufficient evidence to support it, but no where has anyone found Vilma innocent. Two very different things that...

Kyle gets fined 25K for verbally telling the truth, while the 2 coaches who physically abused the refs get nothing ??

Yea, so much for their actions diverting the league's attention from Kyle.

NOTHING the Skins ever do "wrong", will ever get overshadowed by anything, in Goodell's eyes

Eeh, fine seems fair enough. But in addition, Kyle should have to surrender his parking spot, if it's better, to Josh Morgan for the rest of the regular season. And, he should have to run wind sprints, in front of the team, after every practice this week.

According to this article, Belichick will get fined today and Harbaugh is not expected to be fined. I would say common sense dictates Bill's fine would be double or triple Kyle's, but then again its clearly not common sense dictating decisions in the NFL this day and age.

I would argue that we're better off not expecting consistency from the NFL in how it decides if it wants (and how much) to fine people.

What Kyle did was wrong. He deserved to be publicly reprimanded for it, which is all this pointless fine is. What other coaches did, and how the NFL fines/doesn't fine them, has nothing to do with it.

(just my opinion, obviously)

My word what a ****ing joke these replacement refs are.
Here's a picture of the field,
AFTER the flag was thrown for the false start and the play was blown dead
but
BEFORE the head referee even made the announcement of what the penalty was
and
BEFORE Kyle Shanahan came on to the field
and
BEFORE the flag was thrown on Kyle Shanahan

The ENTIRE Bengals team came on the field. But WE got the 15 (which was actually marked off at 20) yard penalty for coming on the field before the game was over...

Not to excuse Kyle's post game actions, but I certainly understand why he was so angry.

edit: I recognize I may be seeing/understanding something for the first time that the rest of you saw instantly on Sunday. Things were so incredibly hectic in the stadium it was hard to follow what was going on. I kept hearing that this is how it all went down from the coaching staff and the radio, and I'm finally sitting down and watching the broadcast of the game.

LOL, that's ridiculous. I think I might be with BB on this one - not going to watch until they get the real refs back. This is a joke.

Also, the NFL has refused to admit they incorrectly spotted the ball.

Well, here you go....
Before the penalty mess, the ball is clearly spotted at the Bengals 34 yard line:

After the play, the ball is clearly spotted at the Redskins 41:

That is a net change of -25 yards against the Redskins.
There were 2 penalties between the plays.
A 5 yard false start on Fred Davis
a 15 yard Unsportsmanlike Conduct on Kyle Shanahan

No one can figure out where the other 5 yards came from.

Edit: Notice CBS's down and distance to go was correctly increased by 20 yards, despite the spot of the ball being 50 yards away from the first down marker, not 45.

if there was ever any doubt about how slow of a day it is for me today....

here's the obvious facemask i mentioned earlier.
before the play, there are 3
3
THREE
refs in position to catch this:

here's the actual penalty:

Now, CBS being as awesome as they are, didn't both to show an actual replay. But, the Fedex Field crew did, and CBS caught that replay while showing the next play. Here is why we all boo'd:
