Looking at the numbers through three games, Cousins has plenty of company in the interceptions category, so maybe Gruden has a point.

Andrew Luck (7), Matthew Stafford (5), Colin Kaepernick (4), Phillip Rivers (4), Joe Flacco (4), Sam Bradford (4), Peyton Manning (3), Alex Smith (3), and Ryan Tannehill (3) are among the names either having more interceptions thrown or within one of Cousins (4).

Kirk throwing picks is still an issue whether we have deion back there ball hawking or Archuleta falling down.

Not to defend Kirk's INT's so far, but the weird thing is if our D wasn't stuck on ONE takeaway through three games, we might very well not be looking up at .500.

Yeah. Barry has done better than I thought he would, but we need to see some improvement in the takeaway category. Such a game changer when you can stop the opposition's march by taking the ball and giving it to your offense.

Kirk acquitted himself pretty well today-especially in that last drive.
 
He did well. He had some very questionable passes but the difference between a bad play and gutsy one is the result. He got the better side of it today.

Kirk played very well today. He maximized his abilities. Made some clutch plays. And did not wilt under the light.

I'd give him a solid A.
 
I haven't had time to digest and think through everything, but that game was very encouraging from Kirk. His game against the Giants was horrendous, just brutal, and for Kirk to bounce back show me a LOT. He has to work on consistency, but I genuinely don't think he would have been able to bounce back like that last year.
 
Thing I liked seeing most was, he got what *most NFL teams* would consider 'adequate time'. That means he was under pressure a lot but almost always had 3-4 seconds to get the ball out. And that's what he did. He missed a few throws. But he didn't force anything, and he had several throws that were thrown perfectly into incredibly tight windows. He also (again) had some pretty bad drops (Ryan Grant, looking at you) and some penalties that nullified big passing plays.

One additional comment. While Jordan Reed is having what is probably close to a Pro Bowl season so far, he cannot seem to go a single game without some kind of drive-crushing, soul-deflating mental lapse. I wish someone would take him in the shower room and 'have a chat'. He could be such a big time player if he could just eliminate the mistakes (and I'm not even talking about the fumble).
 
I really liked seeing him connect with Ross deep. I am wondering if our offense will look even better if DJax ever comes back.
 
I am kind of ambivalent about DJax return. Not that I don't recognize he's easily the most talented WR on this team (maybe the most talented player period). But he's not going to have any kind of rhythm established with Cousins, is on the downside of his career, and maybe it's just time to start moving on from him. Remains to be seen whether he can even get healthy enough to contribute consistently this year. For me, this season is all about giving Crowder, Ross, and Grant all the work they can get.
 
Even though kirk handled it fine today (and he did) I don't want him to be counted on to throw it 46 times a game. That's not who we are supposed to be as a team.

Yes, we won. I know it. We won with him throwing. But that isn't smart to make the norm, I feel.

Agreed, but to be fair, they gave him enough time to throw today. Seems like early in the season they were struggling with creating a pocket but got the run game going well. Now it seems to have reversed itself. If we could get it all to click at the same time...
 
He threw 46 times today and not a single INT. That is a huge turnaround from a week ago.
 
He didn't throw an INT, that is definitely a good stat. But he threw some bad passes (triple coverage to crowder) that the receivers made better plays than passes thrown to them.
