Keys to the Game Contest

Preston Smith has his 2016 break tha **** out game....2.5 sacks, 1 fumble recovery and tipped pass that falls into Blackmon's hands for a game deciding interception in the 4th qtr.

so exciting!

So what about this week. Bit of my thinking first, then I'll put my KEYS at the bottom!

Well we're playing away from home and I have a tendency to think that when we do the pressure lessons slightly as to when we play at home.

I think this is the first game we see a complete team performance across the board. We were close last week by Special Teams let us down a little.
Also there will be no stupid celebration penalties this week, the teams learnt that lesson... in fact I'd almost go as far as to say they will deliberately NOT celebrate touchdowns. LOL

I think our D will have a tougher time this week, Stafford is looking pretty good this year, and he won't fold like Wentz did last week. He has some nice targets to throw to so I see them actually being able to put up points on us, our D won't be able to hold the streak of having not allowed TD's (currently as 6 qtrs I believe).

The Lions are a odd fish of a team. They can put up points, but sometimes struggle. Bit like us. For instance they lost to the Bears and the Titans and really struggled to put up points.
That said I think Norman holds court in the secondary and limits the damage considerably.

I'm seeing 17 points from them.

On the Skins side, as I said I think they jump out early again as is our way, but this week they don't make the silly snafu's that sunk us last week. I believe (or hope) that this is a team that improves as the season goes on. Last year we got better as the season rolled on, so I'm hoping that's our identity.

I think this is the first game that we put up a gap between us.

So...

Here's the Keys to the game:

Skins start fast, jump to a lead and this time don't blow it.
We see balance across the offense and get a couple of rushing TD's and a couple of Passing TD's. Oh and a couple of FG's for good measure.
Kirk throws an interception, but it doesn't hurt us.
Special Teams makes up for last week, doesn't score but gives us good field position repeatedly.
Our Defense holds strong, allowing Detroit to move and score a little but ultimately limiting them. Norman helps contain the passing game and our Line (for once!) stuffs the run game.
Cravens is back and has a standout game.

Final score 34-17 Skins
 
The Redskins get into an offensive battle and are driving at the end to win the game. Cousin Kirk throws an interception and the Redskins lose by four points.
 
Scott Mitchell hooks up with Herman Moore for 3 td's and over 200 yards, Barry runs for 150 and a td.......wait that s*** didn't even happen in the past.


Defense continues to bring pressure, 4 sacks and an int but the Lions keep it close as our playcalling again becomes unbalanced and at the 4th quarter the Lions are down by 3. Stafford drives to get a tying fg late and the Redskins in the final 30 seconds get close enough for Dustin "Rain Man" Hopkins to seal it with the game winner.
 
Cravens forces a fumble with under 5 min to go in a tie game, and rumbles 35 yards for the go ahead TD. Breeland intercepts to seal the deal on the next drive.

Oh man I couldn't have been MORE wrong this week. :O

The only glint of truth in there is our defense allowing them to score a little but limiting them.

We held them to 20, which wasn't bad. And honestly if our Offense had been able to score and not been concentrating on fumbling the ball away, we'd have been up handily by the end of the game and they may never have had to go with that hurry up 1min drive for that last TD.

I thought the Dallas game was one that got away from us, this one hurts worse.

The fact that bugs me this morning is that we COULD be 6-1 right now. We've battled and won 4 games, and 2 other games we lost rather than the opposition really winning. The Steelers was the only game we lost decisively.
Starting to feel a little like a competitive 8-8 season.

Which to be honest I'll take if I feel that we're at least IN every game. I can live with games like yesterday, games where we competed, never gave up and where we lost because we shot ourselves in the foot. I'll take them because the signs of a good team are in there if we can just get rid of the mistakes.

It was the years where we were just not competitive and were being blown into the weeds week on week that I couldn't stand.

I got this week.

Norman and Reed rest up and get better. Gruden does intensive research on this new offensive concept called a "running game". And the entire offense takes Claritin to deal with being allergic to the end zone in the Red Zone.

Ready to roll for the second half of the season.

Such a shame that we're not playing Chicago after the bye.

Would have meant that in consecutive weeks we'd have been playing...Lions and Tigers and Bears...

Vikings this week...

Keys to this game:

Redskins come off the Bye having solved their red-zone issues. We go for 30+ pts

This despite a Vikings Defense that puts pressure on Cousins all day, forcing quick short passes to Reed, Crowder and Garcon that they just can't seem to stop.

Run game is better than expected.

Vikings poor offense has a better than expected day to keep it close.

Final score 34-24 Redskins win.
 
Alright guys - let's get this cranked up again. Knightingale wins again in Week 10 - with no competition.

Let's get some Keys to the Game against the Packers going - we've got some awesome keychains to give away people!
 
Man this game scares me to bits.

I put much of my thoughts into the random Redskins thread so I'll just summarize with bullets here.

1) Norman and Breeland keep Nelson and Cobb pretty much in check.
2) As is customary, the Skins jump out to ANOTHER 2 TD lead. HOORAH!
3) Our Defense carries on the stalwart effort from last week and hold Green Bay to just a FG... until...
4) Aaron Rodgers shows a glimpse of the QB we know he can be and carries the Packers on an unstoppable drive just prior to halftime.
5) We go in at the half with a nervously close 14-10 lead.
6) We come out in the second half and blow them away as Kelley kills it on the ground against their awful D, and Kirk FINALLY solves the red-sne puzzle.

Final score is a lopsided

42-17 Redskins.
 
As an aside....

I had a very vivid dream about the Redskins game last night.

It was a traumatic game and we lost by a single point.

However...

Oddly we were playing the 49ers.... so not GB.

And we were playing at the Liverpool Soccer stadium.

So all in all, I don't think relevant to this week unless there is alot of changes to the schedule between now and Sunday!

But if by any chance they move this game to the UK, change our opponent to the 49ers and we lose by a point... I want to win ALL the keyrings! :D
 
Jordan Reed reminds everyone he's the best TE in the league with 80 yards and 2 TDs.
 
Ok I'll start Dallas,

Kirk and Rob get Om's 'screen play' figured out and Kelly breaks loose for the TD.
 
The much-ballyhooed "shootout" in Dallas goes the other way. Both offenses move the ball up and down the field all day, but neither can finish drives. Dan Bailey and Dustin Hopkins wear their kicking legs out exchanging FG's and kickoffs out of the end zone, until ___________ makes a 49-yarder with less than 10 seconds left for the 22-19 win.
 
No winner last week. TomE comes close, but it was Spaight with the clincher interception. And a reminder to keep it simple - don't list a laundry list of things. Pick the key moment, play, or player.

Chris Baker knocks Dak out of the game with a concussion - Romo gets picked twice in relief. Skins win. And seconds on turkey and cranberry sauce are enjoyed by Redskins fans everywhere.

Boom. That's how you do it.
 
Dez throws a sideline fit because Norman shuts his whinny ass down. The implosion comes during an ass-kicking on national TV - Skins win by 3 TDs.
