Allen will be 31 and is out of guaranteed money on his contract. I don't see any way with the youth movement under Peters that we give a declining player guaranteed money over a new multi-year deal.
Unlike an Aaron Donald or Khalil Mack, Allen is not aging like fine wine. While these other top end players continued to put up top numbers after 30, Jonathan seems to have topped out at 26 or 27 years of age, whether subsequent injuries have had something to do with that I don't know.
All you have to do is look at Dexter Lawrence or Chris Jones and see how far down our DTs are in the pecking order around the NFL, despite the high dollar investment in them.
