Struggling to understand how we view a 7 wins in 2 years roster as not needing wholesale changes guys?

The answer to that is pretty simple imo: The Redskins have been very weak in certain areas in recent years. The oline has been so weak in pass protection the last few years that it's really rendered the rest of offense inept. QB play has also been pretty bad, but it'shard to know how much of that is due to the "running for their lives" factor. Morris, Garcon, Reed, and Jackson are all very good players, with Reed being the only 1 of those 4 that hasn't been able to do it consistently over multiple seasons bc of injury. If RG3 is going to be the QB next year, which I believe hewill be, then the online is the only part of the team that needs wholesale changes immediately. Build the oline first through the draft and free agency with quality starters. Everything else will have be second priority.

I hate the idea of getting rid of the few very good players we have because other players have performed extremely well. Lets give RG3 "all day" back there for a change and see if he can get comfortable and start to play the way we all hoped he would.

The reason being the Redskins have neglected the oline so much for the last decade that it has to take priority. I'm saying trade down to the bottom half of the first round, pick up a second or maybe third rounder, and take 4 lineman with the first 4 picks. Then add the best lineman available in free agency. Don't know who's going to be out there, but I would love to see a stud LG next to Williams. I always think about when the Seahawks had Walter Jones and picked up Huchinson from the Vikings. Shawn Alexander put up huge numbers, and really wasn't that good.

I say we go BPA, and go shotgun approach on the Oline, with several picks and some free agents.

we are a talent deficient team on defence and on offence we need almost an entire Oline and maybe a blocking TE.

I just dont want us bringing in another teams old washed up guys to replace our old washed up guys. and if we do go young, dont just start guys because they are young make sure they have some damn upside.

I'd be silly to think that none of you read where the new GM has said in articles about him that he finds building a team the most satisfying and its how they fit together that makes a good team. This would not mesh with most of you who still seem to think we are a couple/few players away so I'm friggin confused as to what your expectations are?

As I've said in the past even IF they bring in a competent personnel guy were are no less than 3 to 5 years away from being decent.

There's a lot more about this guy that we don't know about...you don't get 'released' from two organizations for drinking without some kind of intervention...interventions by the organizations that failed.

Duh! Again, do you think you discovered air here? Red flags are in a bottle of aspirin too. So what? I see it as a risk worth taking. You would too, if it was anybody other than us taking it.

This boils down to Danny making a desperate move to hire a guy no one was really wanting to touch anymore.

While I certainly can't prove it, I believe your history suggests, that if he were hired by another club, you'd be first in line criticizing "The Danny" for not taking the chance on a potential top notch GM.

Let's see how it plays out.

I see no way that this move improves the Danny's image around the league. The league has subtle ways of dealing with owners they don't like. We've seen it for over a decade.

Realist huh? As long as the Redskins are one of chief monetary pillars of the NFL, with their small market welfare program, they could care less about him personally. If you think most of them aren't rich, arrogant assholes, who's self worth, and preservation isn't their top priority, then I'd say you are in need of a reality intervention.

It really stuns me how many people defend Snyder. Really stuns me.

For the Scot move, I am incredibly optimistic, but am also have a healthy bit of skepticism. Something is rotten in the Redskins organization, and someone who has the "demons" and baggage he carries with himself may be more susceptible to that rottenness than any of us realize. In other words, I doubt it takes much to push him off the wagon, and the atmosphere at Redskins Park may be more than enough to do it. I love his talent evaluation skills, but still don't think we have addressed the climate or environment around the FO.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again, we need leadership. I'm not so worried about Scot being a bust picking talent; whatever draft classes we get out of him should be light years better than what we've been getting. But, I am concerned that he may succumb to those demons because of the toxic work environment up there.

But, I'm sure I'm just being negative.

It will be pretty easy to see if Dan really wants to win games or not.

The NE Patriots have 19 scouts. We have 7. The second fewest in the entire league. Only Cincy, arguably the cheapest organization in football, reportedly has fewer.

Most report that we have pathetic facilities, an absurd locker room and cafeteria for the players. We also have a bad field for our guys to play on 8 games a season.

We also only have 2 trainers on staff. Most clubs I've reviewed have 6-8.

If he wants to win football games, you'll know soon enough.

And choosing not to be critical of Snyder, 24/7, is in no way defending him. He's done plenty to deserve criticism. There is never a need to add things that may happen going forward. Beating up a cripple in a wheelchair doesn't make me feel better about myself. Others may feel different.

I didn't say it wouldn't be his fault, Ax. Merely that we may not be putting him in the best position to succeed. It is my opinion that in order to be successful at Redskins Park in the current climate, one needs to have a very strong, forceful even, personality. Someone with his struggles may not have that.

Way too early to tell. It's just my concern. As mentioned before, we haven't addressed leadership. Picking players is a HUGE part of our problem, so believe me, I'm ecstatic we addressed that.

Im seriously thinking we are putting more pressure on his past with alcohol then necessary. When he got dismissed from San Francisco, the reason why he started drinking so heavily (as i've understood it) was he had to fire his friend Mike Nolan as well as served his divorce papers. Does it excuse it? Nope. But it at least appears to me that he's not a recreational drinker to the point that he's wrapped up with the law. From what I understood in Seattle, the Owner didn't want to let him go but was forced to do so because he had to maintain the same expectation with the Front Office that he did with the players themselves. I haven't seen any record of arrests, any situations with the law at all, or any negative encounters with the teams from the result of alcohol. Is it a slippery slope? Absolutely could make that arguement, but I dont see him as a ticking time bomb.

While in theory I like the idea, the reality is you can't do it. With so many holes, you take the BPA who fits what you're trying to do. I like the idea of OL with the first pick. There are 4 tackles projected top 10, Ronnie Stanley ND, Andrus Peat Stanford, Erek Flowers Miami and Brandon Scherff Iowa. Stanley, Peat and Scherff are all reported to be versatile enough to play T/G.

Who knows? Maybe someone would be willing to jump up and offer us something for Shane Ray...maybe we take Ray. Many suggest he's a once in a decade DE.

However, we need so many positions filled, BPA is the more sensible option. The advantage of early 1st round picks is that, with the exception of QB, all should be immediate starters.

Our 2nd round pick we should definitly consider Cameron Erving if he's there. That kid switched form Tackle to center mid-way through the season for FSU and the run game improved immediately. He would be BPA at the 38 spot.

And Hutchinson was drafted by the Seahawks and signed that enormous deal with the Vikings.

Perhaps. But that proclivity for weakness could be accidentally enhanced in our current FO. Please don't misunderstand me. I am THRILLED with this hire. But you know how Ryman was screaming when we drafted Griffin that we should have fortified the OLine first, THEN drafted our franchise QB? At first we all made fun of him, but turns out he was probably right. I would rather KNOW for sure we clean up the toxic atmosphere in that FO, then bring in the talent evaluator with a heart of gold but a penchant for the bottle. If we get two drafts out of the guy, we are likely to get vastly improved results than what we are used to, so that alone makes this hire a win.

But long term, I am concerned about this cat. It appears he may not be mentally tough (and he might be fine ultimately - I hope he is), and I think mental fortitude is right at the top of "must-haves" to work in the Redskins FO right now. At least until we know it is cleaned up.

I think the alcohol stuff is between him and those who decided to hire him. It'll come up today because the press won't be able to resist it, but he shouldn't have to answer questions about his private life any more than you or I would be expected to when we are hired for a new job. Off/when it becomes a problem his employer will address it. I don't see it as something fans need to know. But that's just me. Ironically I trust a drunk McLovin more than a sober anyone else at Redskins Park
