Going Elephant on this one. No one - and I mean no one - saw it coming. Well... almost no one. I hope Alex can stay healthy (knock on wood) and do something special before he finally hangs them up. There's never been a more deserving guy. He is literally a heroic figure. Go get 'em Alex!

I gotta relish it. It may never happen again!

I said if there was any justice in the world, that alex smith would come back and play a couple games and then retire. I remember looking at his leg pics and thinking, for him to even get on the field after that at all is a massive win. The dude is a winner, he doesnt look amazing, but he just somehow puts his teams in a position to win games. you had more faith in him than I did, I honestly figured, he would play a couple games and then retire.

Funny thing about this, Brother Boone. When you wrote that way back in BWTF, I went into the read thinking something along the lines of my bro crazy. By the time I finished, I remember thinking, huh ... he might be right. Reading it again just now was like soul therapy. Good things DO happen to good people.

You know, as I've confessed before, sometimes I'll put something out there (a 'fringe' take if you will) just to get some conversation going, not sure if I'm actually believing what I'm writing or not. But in Smith's case, I just had a feeling about the guy. I remember thinking last night, if his 'injury' turns out to be related to his leg repair, that he'd probably be done with football at that point. And also, that if that were the case, how cool was it that he came back and was able to start some games and help us win them.

But what would be even cooler would be if he is able to recover quickly, return, and lead us to the playoffs. No matter what happened from that point on, it would simply be the most epic comeback ever. I'm rooting for it.

Yeah...with all my reservations with the ownership of this team, Alex Smith is simply the kind of human being you just can't help but root for.
