How 'Riverboat' is Ron?

They call Ron Rivera 'Riverboat Ron' but there are serious questions if he's really the bold, gambling coach his nickname infers? When recently reading parting comments (shots?) from Panthers fans post-firing of Rivera, they mostly bemoaned his conservative play calling. Few spoke about him being a risk-taker, particularly creative, or going against conventional wisdom type.

Well, we’ve got Lil’ Norval calling the offensive shots now ... maybe Ron will let him go for it on 4th down once in a while.
