I am building a deck on the back of my house, doing all of the work by myself! I put in 11 footers 12" in diameter and 38" deep. I mixed and poured all of the concrete myself, 4,000 pounds of it! All of the 6x6 posts I notched for the beams to set in. I will start the decking this weekend. I have the bench seats for the octagon part in my garage I built a month ago or so, ready to land on the deck!

It is pretty satisfying doing all of the work myself.

I came into this thread ready to make all kinds of jokes. But instead, I am in awe of your deck.

:)

Awesome job, my man! Looks incredible, and that's so satisfying to do it yourself, way to go.

Wow, not what I was expecting. Outstanding !

I remember when I was that ambitious... :kick_can:

Looks great! How'd you come up with the octagon idea?

I wish I had some of your skills brother. Impressive.

I kicked around a bunch of ideas I have had for it on paper before I came up with it. That was the best way to have a built in seating area where people could talk to each other. The plan is to put a propane fire pit in the middle of it. Also I built the arbor so that I can put a roof on it next year and put an outdoor kitchen in there. Living in South Carolina for 13 years and being in construction I have seen a lot of things I wanted to include in it.

It's really coming together - looking forward to seeing the finished product. Also have enjoyed watching the progress on FB.

Kelly said the next project is the Redskins man-cave in the basement. Can't wait to see the pics on that one too. :)

A very nice deck SC, I'd definitely sit on it. :bolt:

Finally got all if the decking down! Hand rails tomorrow, then finishing up the bench seats and strapping the arbor. Next weekend should be pouring concrete for the stairs, building the stairs, and that should about wrap it up.

That's a beautiful job - kudos brother

The deck is now complete other than some minor things! Now the best part, enjoying it! I think the grill mat makes the whole deck lol
