I wonder if it'll stick with that charge or if they'll go for vehicular homicide/manslaughter - 2 totally different charges
 
I hated living in Vegas with a passion, 9 years of it. One horrible year round stat is that at any given time, there’s like 70% of the drivers are intoxicated.
 
This is really sad. First off, someone lost their life because someone was irresponsible. This still happens way too much when everyone should know not to drive after you have been drinking. But no one ever thinks they had too much until they get caught or it's too late and someone gets hurt or worse and dies.

Secondly, why does any athlete drive when they go out? Find an Uber, hire a driver, get a friend to be the designated driver, something. But someone throwing away millions of earnings for a night out just boggles the mind. I know that probably never crossed his mind and he's probably done this multiple times. But that doesn't change the outcome of what happened.

Just really sad and I hate this happened to the other person who lost their life.
 
The woman who died burned to death while still alive.

He needs to suffer the same fate. Drunk driving and killing someone should result in the death penalty

You give an uneducated and immature kid millions or dollars and say "behave" like that's a real option. These kids usually come from extremely poor situations where they've never had things. Now, they're idolized, people never tell them no, and they are expected to act right with millions of dollars.

These leagues need to start mentoring these kids as they come out of college and help get their heads right.
 
I had a defense attorney tell me years ago (my attorney when I got in some :poop: ) in my youth that "Eric nothing good happens after midnight, hence why you're here in court paying me." But if I hadn't been in some :poop:, I probably wouldn't have listened.

Tough to say, the league can't force them not to spend money or to listen even if given a mentor. As Kel pointed out, if you have the money, why even drive? Don't the cowboys have a 24 hr chauffeur service they instituted a few years ago, I know I read awhile while back some team was putting that in place for their players.
 
Kevin Garnett had one. He was told he wouldn't be picked #1 unless Kevin McHale was his mentor for his first year. It can happen.

He was apparently going 156mph when he slammed in to her and had twice the BAC

Such a stupid stupid decision on his part, no excuse for that behavior
 
Reports are he was going 156 MPH seconds before the impact, and his BAC was twice the legal limit

Admittedly, i've probably found myself driving beyond a legal BAC, and I thank god every day it didn't result in disaster, but i've never sniffed anything CLOSE to 156 MPH... that's insanity.
 
That's terrible.

I think I read somewhere the NFLPA provides a rideshare service to all players for the purpose of preventing this exact sort of thing.
