Health & Physical Fitness/Training Thread

I'm looking at getting into Hapkido. Never done martial arts much outside of fencing but always wanted to. Time is something of a issue though and I don't want to do it halfassed.

I'm not super familiar with Hapkido, except I think its very aerial, which is a great compliment to your sword training I think. Exciting! I hope you love it!

Missed class yesterday so I did Kenpo X again today. It's getting easier, but man, I am starving right now. It's going to be a struggle not to binge tonight.

Speaking of binging, was curious to know what everyone's "cheat" food is? Basically that one thing you just can't say no to if it's in the house.

Gotta say mine is coca cola and Reeses Cups. Those little bastards do not last long at all in my house.

Oreos and/or bacon.

34 on the bike this morning, plan on 90 min of yoga this evening.

Tahts pretty hard core, Boone. Im humbled. :)

Bailed on Yoga 10 minutes in after a couple hours in the garden. Just takes too long. Tomorrow is Core Synergistics :). I may splurge and even have a couple of beers tonight.

Hey, beer is healthy. It's full of essential vitamins and minerals and stuff. And nothing bad can live in it. I say go for it.

Of course I had to say something. My son went with my wife shopping for groceries the other day and he got to pick the snacks out and of course he brought home double-stuff oreos. I ate 300 calories worth of them before I realized I'd opened the bag. Sigh.

Intervals today. Survived the second six-minute interval. Next week I will up the third interval to six minutes and see how that goes.

Lol i know what u mean on snacks. Its like u just 'black out' and come to with crumbs all over u.like the cookie monster.

I can't have oreos in the house, or I'll binge eat them also. Its like, "I'll just have one. Okay, I'll just have another one. Okay, just one more." 20 oreos later, "BALLS."

No doubt! Then u got other things like Little Debbie aka 'Lillith'. Evil little bitch

Oh yeah, this x 100! I'm not even a 'chocolate' guy, I can take it or leave it. But Oreos? Pure crack.

Took Sunday off - just felt lazy and in need of a lounge around and watch golf on TV day. Back on the horse tonight with Core Synergistics.

I'm trying to ease back into running. Still dealing with an energy problem, but I went for an incredibly enjoyable mile run with my eldest daughter Sunday night. Ran a 12-minute pace. We're hitting it again tonight. Hopefully the easy jogs with her will trip something in me, and my body will begin to cooperate again. I hate feeling like a slug, given the way I'd been running over the past two years or so. I'd like to get back to the point that I could run another half, maybe this Fall.

Weight isnt coming off as fast as I like, but my shape is definitely changing quickly, so I am probably using the wrong overall success metric.

Down 10 lbs, all exercises have improved from normal stength stuff (pushups, crunches, etc) to all Kung Fu exercises.

Feeling pretty good overall, but would like to see more movement soon on the scale too, just for sanity sake.

Hit the 35-lb mark, 40 is right around the corner. Once I hit 40lbs, I'm going to start running again, the thought being less weight will be easier on my bum knee.

Pretty much exactly where I am. I need to start eating breakfast - it's just not my thing but I know not eating in the morning is a metabolism killer. I'm going to start taking some vitamins consistently, some Coenzyme Q, at a minimum - been dragging lately and hard to motivate and get my energy level up. I think if it ever truly warms up here in NC, that will help some. Going to ride my first hard ride (organized one) Saturday - only 40 miles but over some seriously hilly terrain. I expect pain :)
