Haynesworth inactive

fellas....you're all missing a key point: these idiots in charge are recreating exactly all the drama we wanted done away with last year. it's not just one manchild. they mishandled the whole *amn thing. we are back to being a joke. and this is not going away....it'll be an ongoing distraction.

Mike, when I rag on something, its because its something to be ragged on. this is just yet another example of Shannahan allowing ego to override whats best for MY team. If he doesnt do something soon to show why I shouldnt rag on him for being an egotistical turd, I cant guarentee I wont rag on every single stupid decision he makes, and hell he has made a lot so far.

oh, I meant for me. I have no doubt in my mind that you and Ryman could find a billion things to rag on. I just hope you show some restraint

in deference to your august status as a serving member in THE elite military Service (sorry Sarge) I will limit the carnage. to be honest..."this too shall pass"......it's harder to even care anymore.

Totally mishandled from the beginning.

At least we now know he won't be playing here anymore. That's the only good thing about it.

Should have traded him when they could. Now, we'll be lucky if we can get a 7th rounder for his dumb ass in the off-season.

You screwed the pooch on this one Shanny. You could have ended this drama in July, and chose not to, to the detriment of the rest of the team.

Pretty goddamn ignorant if you ask me.

me? I'll be ***ting on Shanahan and Allen every chance I get if they do not craft IMMEDIATE improvement in this team. they f'd this up badly....and have nothing to show for it. AH was held acconutable. ok. how about this incomepetent coaching staff being held accountable? they've basically accomplished next to nothing over last year other than demonstrate: 1) they can dismantle a somewhat effective defense;

Tried a new scheme, but the main cog of the 3-4 is NT. Their plan at NT decided to be MIA for most of offseason and then whine and bitch continuously about playing NT.

2) they can cut loose players that better coaching staffs can draw production from;

Example? And I hope you don't mean Devin "I was cut by the Panthers and had one good game on special teams against the team that cut me, but have failed to produce consistently" Thomas.

3) they can alienate their QB as well as the last bunch;

Alienate their QB? He was playing terrible, and got benched. If that's alienating, then it happens every single day in the NFL. The only thing they messed up was the explanation.

4) they have an off-season conditioning program that hasn't accomplished ***t when it comes to reducing o-line injuries or hamstrings;

Every team in the league has had injuries...you're not going to get any respite from this from any other coach.

5)oh...and they never point the finger at themselves;

Just flat out wrong here - Shanahans have blamed themselves several times.

6) they're no better than the last group, maybe worse, in developing RB talent;

Who did Zorn develop at RB?! Shanahan has brought in Torain who looked great, Keiland Williams who has looked great, and James Davis who looked pretty good this past week. Please don't tell me you're holding Marcus Mason up as better than all 3?

7) they're no better than the last group in finding and coaching receivers to do basic stuff like...oh I don't know...catch a ball and hold onto it.

Lol, because catching is a coachable aspect of one's game, right? If that were true, Usain Bolt would already have a multi-year contract with someone.

these clowns are laughable. look at all the doormats performing better than this sorry outfit. where does blame really fall in all of this? thank you Dan. thank you Bruce. thank you Mike. thank you Jim. thank you Kyle. professionals my arse.

So let me get this straight - you expected a 180 degree turn around in week one? You might be more delusional than Albert. Vinny Cerrato and Dan Snyder messed this team up something terrible - its gonna be a year or two until its fixed, maybe even longer.

How did Shanahan screw the pooch? Haynesworth looked him in the face and said "I have no problem doing what's asked of me, I will play in the 3-4." And then proceeded to act out and pout every chance he got. Come on!

5-7. whatever.

You remind me of someone I spoke to about a major inspection several years ago I was concerned the organization wasn't prepared for. the response I received from senior leadership: "don't worry...they'll redefine the success criteria". well...we all have our standards! I apparently set the bar higher than some others.

he screwed the pooch several ways

1- not paying attention to the talent he had here and trying to force a system that wasnt tenable.

2- by telling a top 5 dt who just got a hundred million that " you will play wherever you are told" how did that work out?

3- by ignoring every single intelligent football person who told him that we sinmply do not have the talent to run a 3-4.

4- by not watching film of AC before making him play OLB. the film was there , there is no excuse.

5-by ignoring the obvious signs this switch wasnt gonna work and instead letting a probowl DE and DT sit while far lesser players start.

6- by letting himself get blinded by physicality in the first damn place, the excuse that "his nose tackle " didnt want to play and somehow that vindicates him? AH said in no uncertain terms that he wouldnt play NT. but of course shanny thought " he will do what I tell him."

Shanny has dropped the ball on this, we could have had at the very least a decent defence and more than likely a very good defence, that we do not is directly on shannys shoulders. period.

If the stories are true about this going on from jump street, Shanny is responsible for allowing it to continue.

Trade/cut the MF'er, and move on.

Albert was a dick. Shanny chose to keep him past the trade deadline.

This is Shanny's baby.

Eh, I believe if Haynesworth had manned up and bought-into the 3-4 from the beginning he'd be one helluva nose-tackle. We'll never know, of course, because of his me-first attitude and unfamiliarity with the team concept.

2- by telling a top 5 dt who just got a hundred million that " you will play wherever you are told" how did that work out?

Ryman, do you play football for a living, or do you have a day job as well? If so, I assume you have a boss (unless you're self-employed). If your boss tells you to do something, what do you do?

You continue to personally attack me rather than address my posts...I will ignore your attacks and accept your concession. ;)

have you ever managed a large group of people with diverse skills, backgrounds, cultures and abilities? leadership is much more subtle than "go do it".

I guess the "if your boss tells you to jump off a cliff" response doesn't fit here either.

because being asked to jump off a cliff is the same as being asked to play nose tackle. nice try but thats a bit too extreme for anyone to buy.

well...you are free to sidestep the real thrust of the comment which was about leadership.

the cliff comment was a freebee I knew would be rejected - though you might have missed the real point....NO ONE JUST DOES WHATEVER THEIR BOSS TELLS THEM TO DO....not even in your profession. in short...a silly strawman that reflects a disconcerting detachment from reality.

Lanky, he would be at best a decent NT based solely on his physical attributes, but as I have said there are several reasons why he wouldnt make a good NT.

1- all of his moves are based on being quick and tall, for instance, AH's primary moves are a swim move and a spin, neither of which works well in a stand and read defence. he is very good in space for a big man and pursues the ball very well.

2- he is a guy who although very large and strong, bases his game on quickness, he rarely stands in there and mauls people, even his bull rush is not all about strength its about explosion and getting into the Olineman before he gets set.

3- AH is not a good block shedder, he does better when he is not lined up head up and he can use his feet, when a good OG gets his hands on Albert he is limited to trying to force the Guard into the gap because he doesnt use his hands to get the guy off him very well. this means when he hesitates (as in most 3-4 defences) he is usually washed out. he beats double teams by getting low and being quicker than the double, when they get him he gets washed out.

4- he is a quick twitch athlete, this means he is explosive and quick but it also means he doesnt have great endurance as being explosive takes more energy than being steady does.

the Best nosetackles are built differently, they are never "high cut" and usually have very thick legs and look somewhat stumpy or square, they play very low with good leverage and are not usually chase type players. They are good at shedding blocks, and while not fast are usually quick. they almost never are over 6-3 and almost always have short torsos and long arms. just because a guy is big and freakish athletic doesnt mean he will be a good NT.

as for your other questions,

I dont play football professionally anymore, that was when I was younger, I still play semipro and coach although I may not play anymore as im dealing with kidney failure atm.

I sell business solutions and internet to small, medium and large businesses now. My boss rarely asks me to do anything stupid and when she does I have been known to tell her that what ive been asked to do is stupid. I was at the top of my profession for 3 years ina row before the bussiness made some changes recently and went from a revenue driven model to a customer service driven one, and believe me, they got my feedback on that lol.

have you ever managed a large group of people with diverse skills, backgrounds, cultures and abilities? leadership is much more subtle than "go do it".

What relevance does my managerial experience have to do with this situation? I have been part of teams in the past in which I was asked to do things I didn't think played to my strengths, but I did them, because that's what you do when you're employed.

I think you'd benefit from a brief survey - go out and ask the first 10-20 people you see two questions:
1) What was your college degree in?
2) What is your current job, and are you doing exactly what you did in college?

I'd bet dollars to donuts most people will say no, they had to learn a new skill or training, or their job will be completely unrelated to their college degree. Its a fact of life.

well...you are free to sidestep the real thrust of the comment which was about leadership.

Maybe you don't do what your boss tells you to do, but I sure do. I don't think I'd be employed very long if I refused to do what was asked of me...I don't think many people would be...

how many coaches out there tell their players to do something that is going to harm them phsyically? jumping off a cliff implies just that. being asked to play NT isnt even close to that.

actually you DO exactly what your boss tells you. If you have any questions about it you ask after the fact. But I have never come across and questioned my boss when he says someething needs to happen.

what level of athletics did you stop at Mike?

as someone who has played pro and semipro football I can in fact attest to the fact that coaches will tell you to do things that will harm you physically.

aim for the football with your head, you might break your neck but you might cause a fumble.

reach through a double team to slow the running back, you may hyperextend your elbow or break your arm but you may slow down the running back.

football is not like life, in life when i go to work, my boss isnt going to say, "hey ryan I know you are a peak performer in sales, but mary from accounting isnt here so could you please do payroll? after all everyone here knows you have two college degrees so you should be smart enough to do payroll." that just doesnt happen in the real world, in football however coaches do say " hey Ryan, you are 6-5 and 330, so even though you are our leading playmaker on defence, we need you to soak up blocks so that other guys can make some plays too."

so guys need to understand, its a different world when you go to work in a helmet and cleats

baloney. in your own profession...if you are asked to do something by your bos that is a UCMJ violation you sure as heck better not do it.

again...you are missing the point: NO ONE REFLEXIVELY AND WITHOUT RESERVATION DOES EVERYTHING THEIR BOSS TELLS THEM TO DO. except for idiots, of course.

btw....you do not see as a loyal service privately informing the boss when he might be making a bad decision? you've never done that? really? I won't persue why not.

let me ask you this Mike...and you might be lucky enough to be put into this position (I was): you are told by your boss (say a senior officer) to do something that you know is wrong for your troops. do you bite the bullet and fight back or do you just tube the troops without even trying to make the case?

back to the op

"“Yesterday, when Albert was at Redskin Park, he told our General Manager Bruce Allen that he [Haynesworth] would no longer speak with me. Although suspending any player is not a decision that a head coach enters into lightly, I believe the situation has reached the point where the club clearly has no alternative.”

so yeah he put up with AH being a putz until he said he was no longer going to speak to Shanny, but this wasnt getting personal at all lol. im amazed it lasted this long.
