Haynesworth Inactive on Season Opener? (No Confirmation)

I know they switched from a 3-4 to a 4-3 after Capers was fired and Kubiak took over. Since then they've been drafting guys to fill out the 4-3 Williams, Okoye.

As a fan/follower of this situation, it's hard to tell what's going on. One minute, Shanahan is pissed and won't start Haynesworth (may even make him inactive). The next day, Shanahan is saying he's working hard and that the Skins will work him into the rotation with hints that if he doesn't start he'll have a significant role in the gameplan.

So why I agree with you fan, the problem is we don't know if they're happy with Haynesworth or not. At this point, I'm not sure they do.......
unless this is a real work of genius by Shanahan and is making everybody confused with his gamesmanship (maybe this his goal with Dallas).

exactly WD. you captured the feeling better than I did. what I want is continuity....some certainty on where L'Affaire Albert is headed...some closure. AH is the child in this relationship. Shanahan is the adult. Don't reward him with a cookie one week and stand him in the corner the next with a dunce cap. If he's out of shape then work him into shape by slowly expanding his playing time on into the regular season - what transpired in the Cards game was horse manure that was going to accomplish very little other than intentionally embarrassing a player THEY HAVE DECIDED TO KEEP ON THE ROSTER.

Yeah, I always thought Okoye was a bad pick for the 3-4 NT. I guess this explains their personnel moves defensively. I need to pay more attention.

Since AH played so very poorly in the 4th game, it wouldn't surprise me if he was inactive. The coaches were appalled at how badly he played and how little effort he gave. It's time for AH to go. I don't give a crap how talented he is; he's a worthless POS.

The Redskins making Haynesworth inactive would be an act of stupidity.

You put up with a guy like this all offseason and then bring him in and spend time teaching him the scheme and then make him inactive?

What the hell for?

If that is what the team is going to pull they might as well have traded him for that #3 or #4 pick before the draft.

Why keep him this long if this is the outcome?

I could have told you 3 months ago that things were going to go pretty much as they have:

1. Shanahan fines Haynesworth for missing the minicamp
2. Haynesworth shows up to camp slimmer than 2009 but not in 'Shanahan' shape.
3. Haynesworth is slow to learn the system and continuing tensions with Shanahan prevent there from any real progress being made.
4. Haynesworth plays very little if at all with the starters in the preseason.


5. Starting the season, Haynesworth doesn't look to be worth much to the Redskins on the field. He doesn't know the defense because he didn't get the reps and he doesn't seem inclined to do anything other than suit up to avoid being suspended.

Some interesting quotes from the article from Shanahan

Albert will be with our team on Sunday," Shanahan said.

Does not say that Albert will play but that for the rest of this week, AH will be on the sideline or that's how I'm reading it. Yes he could be with the team and inactive but I don't get that feel.

If he wasn't here (Sunday), I think you'd call me a liar, wouldn't you?" the coach said. "And you'd have the right to do that."

This one however leads me to believe that there's still trade talks ongoing, Shanahan puts this statement out there so if AH does go, he's already said call me out on it. Puts out a fire that may never exist, but possibly could.

Asked whether Haynesworth will play, Shanahan launched into a lecture about "competitive advantage," saying it shouldn't be revealed whether a player is a starter, backup or not suiting up.

This right here is a sportswriter comment if there ever was one. Actually read the sentence, when you get done reading it you start thinking "well what the hell is it, this is important". However, that initial knee jerk sportsfanatic reaction, after re-reading it, says absolutely nothing. It really says nor answers anything, so it shouldn't be relevant.



So what does this article actually tell us from the coach's mouth. "I really really really really think Albert will be with us on sunday buuuuuut it's possible he isn't."

So there you have it, I'll put the odds at 88.65 % AH is still here on Sunday.

Haynesworth will be here. The Redskins are dreaming if they think Tennessee is going to give up a #1 pick or a highly regarded young OL in exchange for him. So, as long as their trade demands are based upon the player he was in 2007 and 2008 rather than the player he is TWO YEARS LATER, the team is going to be rebuffed.

Things happen quickly in the NFL.

Remember Randy Moss? He went to Oakland as a prized possession and a couple of years later was dealt to the Patriots for a FOURTH ROUND PICK.

Well, if we don't know if Albert will play on Sunday, the Cowboys sure as hell don't either. While he may be a "worthless POS" he's a worthless POS that if he's lined up on the opposite side of your line of scrimmage you are going to have to spend some time preparing for. If nothing else, Shanahan isn't easing the workload of the Dallas offensive coaching staff this week.
