I saw this when you first posted it, and wanted to see where it want. So, have you taken a serious approach in at least investigating the property's history or local history of the area. You can pick up an inferred thermometer for practically nothing, and do a room by room scan for an anomaly. You can also sound record, and use a "white noise" type filter program to see if somebody is speaking, but not in a normally audible range. You can even get an EMF detector for very little. Those are the basics of ghost hunting...

Just because it only happened once doesn't mean much. Often specific dates and times can trigger a supernatural occurrence.

I'm more then a firm believer.

Honestly, there really isnt a "history" with this house. We are the second owners and did check on the status of the couple who we bought it from 5 years ago (alive and kicking still, albeit elderly). The land was farm land for a few generations and no historically significant events occurred on it. I did check with the son of the guy who owned the land when it was a farm (He lives in the neighborhood) on that.
The only 2 items of interest were:
1. The father of the man in my neighborhood who had owned the farm passed away about 6 months ago and lived down the street from me (only 12 homes in the hood here).
2. About 300 yards away, they are putting in sports fields for the church that is nearby.

We havent done any of the paranormal investigation style of checking at all.

You raise an interesting point about possibly connected with a date or time that may make occurrences less than normal feeling.

this is going to sound "out there" but they say that spirits attach themselves to people and follow them home as well as to other places. You or someone in your house could have and it was only a one time event. Or it could just be waiting to charge and appear again.

I have been having issues when I sleep right now. I keep feeling something dark trying to come in to the house and get after my son. I fight it for hours on end and then wake up in a panic. Its happened twice in the past week. I know it isn't just a dream because I can hear it and feel it.

I have been having issues when I sleep right now. I keep feeling something dark trying to come in to the house and get after my son. I fight it for hours on end and then wake up in a panic. Its happened twice in the past week. I know it isn't just a dream because I can hear it and feel it.

Almost sounds like adult night terrors.
