Now we are completely screwed.
Please tell me: How? This will not keep him out next year, which is what is required for us to be on the hook for next years salary. How are we completely screwed again?

Deal can be restructured if needed for a trade or we agree to cover part of the $$. I do have faith in McCloughan.

$3.4 mil is fully guaranteed this year, so that rules out a trade of any kind.
After a night and morning to think about it, here is my $0.02 and nothing more.
Griff has played his last down as a Redskin. Pretty sure of it. After a porous preseason, the team has decided to move on, but can't trade him or release - the $3.4 mil nixes those possibilities.
The team needs to have him healthy by next March so they can release him before the $16.2 mil option becomes official. If he is still injured (technically via concussion or other injury), then the Redskins are on the hook for the full amount.
If he can be released with no injuries when March rolls around, then the team can fully rescind the option.
That is why he no longer plays another snap, imho. The team saw what he did in this preseason and it seems now as if they have decided to move on from Griff.
The only other thing I would add to this is if another team ends up needing a Qb in an injury situation after the 1st couple weeks.
With Griff's salary structure, it is virtually impossible. Anything can happen, but highly unlikely.

Again, big whoop McD.
He could just be released. I know we'd have to suffer the devastating crush of losing out on a 6th round pick (Oh My God!!!)

Sure I am.You aren't a Bashaud Breeland fan?
There's only one way we can really screw this up to where it hurts us in 2016. Let's hope the football people make the football decisions.
Only if he gets injured to the point that he can't pass a physical March 1 right?
Right... not saying it's what I'm rooting for or what I want to be happening.. but if it is, it's gonna just be a story the rest of the season as long as he's on our sidelinesAgreed, ST. IF that is what's happening here.

Well it's very risky to play him. Obviously another ACL would be awful, but what if he simply suffers from another concussion or two?
It's kind of hard to prove that a person isn't suffering from permanent migraines when that evaluation comes. If that happened, kiss $16 million from our cap goodbye next year.
That extension also just made it more difficult to trade him. We tied the hands of anyone who would think of giving him a shot.
