Love is not quite ready. He is fully healthy, but doesn't have enough reps in practice yet. He should be there in about three weeks.
 
So is anyone else still confused why the team kept McKissic over Peterson or is it just me?
 
So the first half box score reads 20 pass attempts vs 9 runs. Seems to me Turner is getting predictable with the play calling
 
This game isn’t exactly making me change my mind on Haskins.
 
Nope. He's played very poorly since the first couple of possessions.
 
Is the o-line doing their job better this week?
 
Maybe calling a screen on 3rd down once in a while
 
Coming out of THE Ohio St I thought this kid was the best pure passer in the Draft. I guess that's why I work in construction and not the NFL. Jeez
 
I don't understand what Ron Rivera is doing at the end of games? I thought Gruden's end of game management was brutal to watch. Rivera not calling timeouts and not fighting for his team? I just don't get that. Show your team you are fighting to the end like you want them to do.

He was asked about it post-game, and he wasn't fond of the question. Paraphrasing, what he pretty much said is 'This is a very young football team. I will decide what is best for their learning and growth and will handle the game as I see fit. There will be time for late game efforts when we are more experienced. But I have to be realistic right now, and whatever I do, it is part of the plan I have in place to manage these guys'.

I think he was basically saying, I'm not going to go to ridiculous, likely futile and desperate lengths to try and eke out a fluke win with this team as it presently stands. I think he gets that there will come a time when a game is never out of reach. But right now, feels we just aren't there yet.

The thing is, you have to build winning habits within your team. You don't want your team thinking they can give up when they are down. The Falcons have given up 2 TD leads late the past 2 weeks. I think you teach your team to keep fighting no matter what.
 
In the abstract it's hard to argue with that. But we aren't experienced NFL head coaches either. I'm sure Rivera had his reasons. The defense had to play the entire game down 2 of it's starters and were totally exhausted (which Rivera mentioned in post-game). I think he was trying to balance the chances that they mount some miraculous comeback (let's be real here - it wasn't likely by a long shot) vs. getting more players hurt or having Dwayne have a few more turnovers. Rivera clearly didn't feel the need to elucidate in his post-game comments, but I think the gist of it is, we aren't very good right now and the goal this season isn't to 'win' because it's an unrealistic goal. He can't say that because fans will flip out and the media guys would be all over him, but imho that's why he isn't being aggressive down to the last snap.
 
I think his medical condition is perhaps negatively affecting his coaching style. No matter what is said publicly, it HAS to be causing difficulties for he and his subordinates. I have never been one to believe 8n curses, jinxes or the like-but when Chase and Matt both go down just three weeks into the season on top of everything else that's already happened, well, let's just say I am beginning to wonder.

Rivera is a tough guy. I think what he's saying is, you don't start building your house by trying to win the Good Housekeeping 'Most Beautiful Residence in America' award. You start by making sure the damn thing isn't going to fall down, and that the rain doesn't come in through the roof in a storm There will be time when you know everything is solid to go for it.

I think you guys are making more of it than it warrants.
