Fromm Here to Eternity

So Rivera originally said that Sam needs an opportunity to take a breath, hit the reset button so to speak, and watch. Now with Brissett injured, he is going to trot him right back out there against the 9ers? Sounds like if Ron's intentions were true, you do go to Fromm this week. Ron is talking out of both sides of his mouth at this point. January 8th, please.

Fromm doesn't have the arm strength from what I have seen to make all the throws.

He wasn't able to stick as the backup in Buffalo despite being a #5 pick in 2020 and was in New York for a hot minute.

But I thought Ron was trying to WIN, WIN, WIN coming down to the end of the season

The rest of us may be more realistic but this group is praying for divine intervention, it's all they have left before the locks are changed on the doors.

They can pray as hard as they like. Them locks are a changing no matter the outcome. 🫡

Listening to the WFAN show.

Comments on the 49ers success -

"SF drafts tough hard nosed players who want to compete and then Shanahan runs among the toughest practices in the NFL".

Does that sound like what Washington does?

Emmanuel Forbes? Jamin Davis? Quan Martin?

Soft players all.

It will be very interesting to see if Emmanuel Forbes, Quan Martin and a guy like Jamin Davis makes the cut with the new organization or gets traded or released.

My gut today is all three will be here next year.

First two will be 2nd-year, high-draft-pick, inexpensive players with unknown upside. At worst, they're rotational players next year to me. We can't replace everybody year one.

Davis? Two-cent head, utterly miscast as a Mike in a bottom-feeder defense, but a borderline freak athlete who's flashed repeatedly down the stretch. The $4.4 cap hit for his final contract year does give pause (which I believe would be dead cap money even if he's released?), but if the incoming GM/DC think they can deploy him effectively within a new scheme, might be a guy who sticks. Assuming he's not in jail.

Jimmy Johnson cut #1 draft picks Tom Landry/Gil Brandt had made in previous years.

Bill Parcells was notorious for clearing the room of guys that felt entitled as high picks to walk around with swagger when they were not really producing much on the field.

They are easy first targets.

These guys don't fall into the category of being frontrunners or hot dogs, but Davis has off the field/maturity issues and it's not clear that Forbes and Martin can actually be productive players.

Whatever happens I want draft position to be a non-factor in keeping players.

Rivera's regime kept draft picks around for years and buried them on IR or on the bench as backups to avoid admitting they made a mistake.

That **** gotta stop.

The fact Jamin Davis was the starting LB on this team this year without competition is roster malpractice.

Though, by far and away, the criminal offense of keeping Cheeseman around through an entire off-season and then season of him sucking should result in jail time with no parole.

There are, obviously, other offenses. But those two stand out because Davis was a first round pick who can't cover a bed with a sheet and Cheesy was a draft pick they kept trotting out there to suck for a year.

I think #3 would probably be Charles. I mean, my guy just isn't strong enough to play and gets hurt all the time. They changed his position, forced him into the starting lineup, saw he couldn't play, and did nothing about it. Granted, he helped them by getting hurt (again) and his replacement didn't do any better. But I have more tolerance for Chris Paul stinking as a 5th round OL flier than Charles.

The went into the season thinking LG could be Charles (who stinks and gets hurt) or Paul (who has the mobility of a lamp post) and that was their plan.

That's about as bad a plan as Danny and John going north to capture a white walker to take to Kings Landing to show Cercei the threat is real. Spoilers for Game of Thrones from 5 years ago.

Bad plan.

Funny enough Mark Schlereth, who is generally not one prone to hyperbole, praised Charles during Sunday’s broadcast. I wonder what he has seen that no one else does.

Yeah, I noticed that too, Chris, and I was surprised. He obviously sees something there that I don't.

Martin is the only one on that list that has shown he may be able to play in the NFL at more than a back up/spot player

In re Saahdiq Charles - I think in watching him against San Francisco it was the best game he has played in a Washington uniform.

Seriously.

He didn't get flagged for holding, he didn't jump offside and he didn't give up any ugly pressures that could have lead to Howell getting hurt.

And finally CHARLES HIMSELF made it through the game without getting hurt :geek:
