Free Agency:

Well, if Leonard Little could stay in the NFL after he killed a woman while drunk driving (after being cited for DUI numerous times) I think there is a big enough tent here in DC to give Merriweather an offseason to impress us :)

For those of us who were saying Matt Flynn is not a fit for the Redskins - it is now all too obvious that he is not attracting the kind of attention that some were expecting (including me). However, maybe he could be a good option as the No. 2 for us.

I'm guessing a lot of teams are thinking he'd be a great #2 and he's still thinking he should be a starter. If that's the case, I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in Green Bay when all is said and done. But that's just a pure guess.

I think the sample size is too small on Flynn's body of work. The hype over him has been absurd.

I don't see how we can afford to sign him, with so many other needs. Like Fletcher.

Yeah, my guess is that when teams look at Flynn they are seeing the ghost of Scott Mitchell.

There are huge thread arguments about Flynn on that Packers site I visit. Some fans were hoping Ted Thompson would try to set up a "tag'n'trade" thing with Flynn perhaps thinking that the market for him was going to be strong enough to get a good value in a trade-like a 2nd round pick for instance.

It looks like TT may be smarter than Packers fans gave him credit for by not tagging Flynn since the market for his services seems a bit softer than was first thought. It would have been a $14 million hit if they'd signed him and now they just might be able to reel him back in for a bit less if nobody bites on what Flynn and his agent want.

Spent a few minutes looking at the highlight vids of his big game against Detroit....and came away with the impression he might be more of a "game manager" type than a legit big time #1. He's got good feet, seems to make good reads, and looks accurate--particularly downfield. But one thing about that vid...he's throwing to a lot of wide open guys, and not getting pressured much...at least not in the plays I've seen.

What I haven't seen yet is even one throw that makes me say "damn."

You know, the kind of downfield, thread the needle, dead on balls accurate laser that guys like Brady, Manning, Rogers..... RG3 :D .....seem to come up with. THAT'S the kind of thing I think maybe GM's around the league have seen too.

Based on an admittedly tiny sample size, I come away thinking the man is a damn good #2, maybe even a serviceable #1 behind a good line and with good weapons....but without the golden arm...thus maybe not a guy you want to spend big FA bucks on hoping he's the kind of guy who will win you games on his own when you absolutely, positively have to have it.

That may be more a function of the fact that Peyton Manning hasn't signed with a team yet. Once that happens, I imagine the market for Mr. Flynn's services will improve significantly.

That said, if it doesn't, I would certainly consider him as a backup. He is (obviously) fantastic in that role.

My preference at this point would be to resign Fletcher and Grossman and pick up an OG (either the guy from the Eagles or the guy from the Texans).

After that, we cool our heels and wait for the draft to take a RT in the 3rd, and then BPA at every other spot.

Speaking of which, do we know how many picks we're left with this year?

Right now we have 6 picks this year. A 1st, a 3rd, 2 4ths, a 5th and a 7th. At least, I believe that is correct. If it's wrong, I'm sure someone will correct me. :)

How could my site been updated in January, if it indicates the Rams trade ?

Hey, that's just what the site said. :)

But I did edit that out when the logic caught up to me. :D
