If we sign Merriweather and let Fletcher walk for a reasonable contract elsewhere, I may throw things. If Fletch can mentor BM and help show him how to be a professional, I will grudgingly go along with it.

I must have been thinking of another player. I could have swore the reason Bellichick let Merriweather go is an alleged incident where he physically assaulted his girlfriend in a domestic disturbance.

Goal, if Fletcher walks it's not going to be for a "reasonable" contract. I take Bruce Allen at his word. He wants London back and will pay him much more than a 36 year old ILB is worth.

Hoping #59 comes to his senses and signs soon. Merriweather can certainly learn from him.

Agreed. I hope London hurries up and signs. I don't know if he is holding out for more money or what, but it would be nice to get it done. My point was simply that if London can mentor and control (to some degree) Merriweather, I am much more comfortable with that signing than if London isn't around.
