Free Agency:

Ben Grubbs contract with Saints: 5 yrs, $36M, $16M guaranteed. OUCH!

Looks like Super Mario will be signing in Buffalo.

EDIT: He will be the highest paid defensive-player in the NFL with this deal.

I have to wonder at all the interest in OGs. RT is the obvious weak spot on this line right now, that is unless Jamaal Brown suddenly regained both his form and his hip from 2008.

Holy cow - 6 years, $96M w/ $50M guaranteed for Super Mario.

Buffalo really wanted him!

And Neo, I just can't see Brown having recovered enough to justify us not looking for a solid RT. But, as Om has pointed out as of late, we have to "trust" the guys in the know.

El, like Reagan said, "Trust but verify."

In a word, yes.

I would have had a hard time avoiding a Ryman Rant had we signed Jackson. Just knowing that we were going to go after him that hard is disheartening.

Do we really know that though or was it smoke and mirrors from Allen and Shanny?

No, we don't. But judging by how fast the Garçon deal was done, I highly doubt we were ever in the Vincent Jackson sweepstakes.

Comparing Buffalo's acquisition of Williams to Green Bay's move for White is off base.

The Packers had acquired a young Brett Favre from Atlanta prior and with Mike Holmgren had a young team that was on the clear rise.

Buffalo has a long way to go to show it is going to be a player in the NFL 'game' again on the big stage.

Ryan Fitzpatrick? I don't think so.

Just saw that David Garrad was starting to make his rounds. I try not to get caught up in this type of conjecture, but he might be a solid backup for RG3. What say you? Even with his medical problems in the past, I guarantee he is more mobile than Rex!

Yea Lanky that's my stance as well, it doesn't look like we ever had any serious intentions of going after the guy.

With Orton and Campbell accepting backup jobs, there may be an opening for Garrard to compete for a starting job in camp with one of the teams currently without clear direction at qb.

Seattle? Arizona? Cleveland?

Although like Holmgren in Cleveland I don't know Shanahan would think a guy with Garrard's accuracy would be a good fit.

I'm not so sure. I think it's quite possible we had our sights set on BOTH him and Garcon and had to settle on just Garcon after Robin Hood stole our cap money.

Seeing how our FO has operated the last couple of years, I think we'd have been outbid for Jackson anyway. I don't think we were ever prepared to go THAT high.
