Cutting Beck now would save another $1 mil on the cap - maybe $2 mil (seem to remember something about a roster bonus). Wouldn't be surprised to see him waived sometime soon.

The Redskins' lack of activity addressing their weak offensive line so far in free agency, continues to puzzle and frustrate. One by one, high-profile linemen like Evan Mathis and Ben Grubbs and good scheme fits like Mike Brisiel have all signed elsewhere.

With kcchiefs.com reporting that the Kansas City Chiefs have signed right tackle Eric Winston, Washington's options are fast running out.

Here are the three best available free agent linemen left for the Redskins to choose from:


Anthony Collins, OT, Cincinnati Bengals

Collins is a youngster with plenty of versatility and potential. The 26-year-old right tackle has often struggled in obscurity behind Andre Smith and Andrew Whitworth for the Bengals.

Yet whenever he has been given a chance, Collins has not disappointed. He held Houston Texans pass-rusher Brooks Reed without a sack in Week 14 of last season.

Collins is at his best in pass protection, an area where incumbent starter Jammal Brown regularly struggles.

Athleticism is a key requirement of linemen in Mike Shanahan's offense and Collins offers superior mobility to Brown and is versatile enough to play either side.

Mike Pollak also played Center at Arizona State so he could give you some versatility along the O-Line.

While we definitely need to upgrade, cost is going to play a huge factor. It's possible we might be done in FA, other the Fletcher, and will be depending on the draft to fill these holes.

I'd feel a little better if I knew the team was at least talking to these guys.
 
To me you cut Santana Moss to add help on the OL if necessary.

He no longer has deep speed and his cap hit is far in excess of the number of catches one expects from him in 2012.
 
Bengals re-signed Reggie Nelson. Look like we will be headed to the draft to upgrade there...
 
we sure do seem to have a lot of needs tied up in that #3 pick and the two #4 picks :)
 
Ryan Tannehill is starting to realize that he could end up in <gulp!> Cleveland.
 
The free agent QB thing is getting crazy. I just heard that Alex Smith turned down an offer from SF, and there's the possibility that Manning could go to Tennessee, Smith to Miami and then SF would be left without a QB.

Tolbert agrees with the Panthers. Never really saw him as an option in DC, they've already got a pretty full backfield.
 
The fact Miami didn't sign Flynn whose HC was Flynn's coordinator in GB speaks volumes to me.

Miami was dropped from the Manning sweepstakes and other qbs such as Orton had already signed with other teams.

The Dolphins are now interviewing David Garrard? :)

That says to me that Philbin believes Flynn IS a seventh round pick that simply had two good games but lacked staying power and overall talent at the position for sustained success.

Seattle may regret this move more than any of the other teams that made moves to address the position in the offseason.
