ESPN980 interview with Coach Shanahan

For the record, the Bears had the worst O-Line in football (yes, worse than ours) and ended up in the NFCCG. Now, they needed some luck and terrible calls to make it there, but they made it there nonetheless.

Does this mean we don't need to upgrade the OL? Of course not - we definitely need to - I just think the OL is not as high a priority as some of our other needs. And a great QB makes a bad OL look good - just look at Aaron Rodgers.

Perhaps that has some merit....I see Aaron Rogers as the exception and not the rule when it comes to Qbs making it work behind a bad Oline. That being said Rogers at what 2 concussions last season? He won't last long at that pace. I see the same thing with Stafford in Detroit. If detroit doesn't improve the Oline he will have short career as well

Well, look at the other extreme - Ben Rapistburger. He's a good QB, but he also holds on to the ball for 17 seconds a down. Its a miracle he isn't sacked 3 times as much as he is, but he has a great OL in front of him. Still near the top of the league in sacks & knockdowns every year, simply because the OL can't keep his pocket open for 5 seconds every play.

The more I think about our draft, the more I think I'd like to see us trade out of the first completely with one of the teams at the back end of the draft (Seattle would be a prime candidate) in exchange for their next year's first round pick plus a second or whatever would be required this year to make the trade work. Doing so would allow us to concentrate on building a team to go with next year's trade up target....Luck. Of course having things work out that way is probably a pipe dream but who knows??

If Vonn Miller, Julio Jones, or another highly coveted guy were to fall to us at 10, I could see Seattle, the Jest, or perhaps Atlanta pulling the trigger on a deal like this.

Although it is more than likley a typo, I think it appropriately describes them.

I wish we could get a trade down with a team that is in need of whomever may fall to us. I wanted one last year, but a #4 pick was too pricey. This year at 10, it is definitely a possibility. I hope it is an option for us.

The problem I have, with Jerruh Jones sitting one draft slot in front of us, it is a possiblity he is shopping that pick too. If a player coveted by another team falls to the nine spot, I am afraid teams may contact Dallas first because they could see a bargain trading with them as opposed to trading with us. I know this is me sounding a little paranoid, but how many of you think Jones would trade down in front of us to garner a couple more picks and stick it to us in the process. They have numerous needs as well.
