It's updated. Just missed the two updates - not sure why, but mistakes happen.

True enough on the mistakes, BB.

I would like to add that similar to many others, I consider, admittedly in retrospect, that trading down from the Gabbert pick and getting Kerrigan and getting extra picks when we were low on them was the most intelligent and productive draft move I have seen the Redskins do in over a decade.

Blaine Gabbert might be setting the benchmark for rookie QB futility. Bet Jacksonville wishes they had Ryan Kerrigan right about now...

JAGUARS/COLTS PREVIEW
Chicken or the egg? To be or not to be? These are two of mankind’s most celebrated philosophical questions. This weekend, we’ll get the answer to a third: if an 0-9 team takes on a 2-6 team in Indianapolis, does it make a sound?

The Colts and Jags are 31st and 32nd in total offense. The Colts are averaging 282.8 yards per game, while Jacksonville rolls up an average of 242.6 yards.

Jacksonville’s average of 12.3 points is the worst in the league, while Indy’s 14.2 is good for third to last.

”Led” by rookie quarterback Blaine Gabbert, the Jaguars average 142.6 passing yards per game, 45.2 fewer than anybody else.

There’s really no way to sugarcoat just how bad Gabbert has been. If Jimmy Clausen’s 2010 set the modern standard for quarterback futility, Gabbert could be pushing for a new benchmark this season. Consider:

-His quarterback rating of 62.0 is dead last in the NFL and 4.5 points worse than Rex Grossman’s. Gabbert could double his rating and it still wouldn’t match Aaron Rodgers’ 129.1 mark.

-He’s averaging 129.6 yards per game, 41.4 fewer than anybody else.

-His 5.24 yards per attempt is 0.49 worse than anybody else's.

-His 45.7 completion percentage is 7.6 percent worse than anybody else's.

It's still early, but Gabbert is looking like a stretch right now for sure, while Kerrigan looks like an absolute steal. We are getting the better end of the bargain definitively, just based on first rounders. When you factor in the additional picks, this has the potential to be a defining draft day victory for Shanny.

Thought this thread deserved a bump. Nice to have something to feel good about.

Two keepers and three contributors is a nice little haul... and imagine how much better the slate would have looked without injuries :(

This draft class could end up being epically good. Kerrigan is a stud for years to come. Jenkins, even if he returns from injury and is a solid DE will be a win. If he is better, as was advertised over the summer, even better. Hank I have a feeling is a budding star, which we will see next year. Helu... well, we all know how good Helu is.

Anyway, I won't keep going. Point is, I think we have a chance to have drafted a class that will set us up for years to come.

This thread was used to compare specific draft choices from 2011. The Redskins passed on a chance to take QB Blaine Gabbert. As a result, they were able to pick Ryan Kerrigan and add five additional players by continuously trading down with that one extra pick (49th in the 2nd round). It netted six players overall - five more from that 49th choice.

Comparisons between Gabbert and the six players are now finalized and the stats are presented below. Did we do a good job by trading down? Was it worth the move?

Redskins

Ryan Kerrigan - Last game: 2 tackles.
Season: 64 tackles, 22 assists, 1 interception returned for TD, 7.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 4 passes deflected.
* - NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month for September.

Season: 151 carries for 640 yds., 49 catches for 379 yds., 2 TDs, 2 fumbles lost.
* - Single game Redskins receiving record (14 total), November 6.

Dejon Gomes - Last Game: 5 tackles.
Season: 35 tackles, 14 assists, 2 passes deflected.

Aldrick Robinson - Did not play.

Maurice Hurt - Last game: Starter.
Seven starts. Good debut. Solid second game. Serviceable third game. Very good 4th-8th games.

Jaguars

Blaine Gabbert - Last game: 11-19 for 92 yds., 1 TD pass, 3 sacks for -21 yds., 3 carries for -3 yds., 1 fumble lost.
Season: 210-413 for 2,214 yds., 40 sacks for -293 yds., 12 TD passes, 11 interceptions, 48 carries for 98 yds., 14 fumbles (5 lost).

THE GRAND TOTALS:

Redskins - Defensive Players Totals:
99 tackles, 36 assists, 1 interception returned for TD, 7.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 6 passes deflected, NFL Defensive Rookie of the Month for September.
Redskins - Offensive Players Totals:
151 carries for 640 yds., 62 catches for 542 yds., 3 TDs, 2 fumbles lost, Single game Redskins receiving record (14 total), November 6. OL starts was 8 games with a solid rookie season.

Jaguars QB Totals:
210-413 (50.8%) for 2,214 yds., 40 sacks for -293 yds., 12 TD passes, 11 interceptions, 48 carries for 98 yds., 14 fumbles (5 lost), QB rating - 65.4.

This would be why I am hesitant to go all out to get ONE player, especially when we have so many holes, imagine if we had done this right off the bat instead of wasting time with mcrapp and brown.

Yes, but what if Gabbert goes bananas next season and Jacksonville pulls a Cincy and makes the playoffs? Not saying he will (I think he's a bust), but what if he does? Would that justify it for you?
