Do the Commanders have trade bait?

I feel like Eeyore these days - but VoR - who outside of Terry or Diggs would possibly be attractive to another team in a trade? Maybe Luke M. but that would purely be based on his return skills. I just have no idea what you are looking at. Our WRs are mostly marginal NFL players. I'm not saying they have zero value - but I don't think any of them have trade value. No one is going to offer us a thing for any of them. I'll confess, I'm not in a positive mindset about some of our roster spots. I think the D is mostly going to be improved, but I am really worried about OL, the DBs, and we are one injury away from being in trouble at WR. Outside of Chig, we have a poor TE room as well (and we assume Chig will be a big difference maker but that is an assumption only right now).

I think that's true if you are talking about trading for someone's starter or star. If you have your sights set for someone's backup that price shouldn't be as high. Think about how much a backup center is worth in NFL terms. It can't be much. So, all you need is a team with too many center candidates who have had a rash of injuries at wide receiver or maybe linebacker and a player trade should not be impossible.

At least that's what I'm thinking when instead of being an Eeyore I'm being a

I think Van Jefferson, Diyami Brown and Burks will all be on an NFL 53 man roster, ours or somebody else's, at some point this season. We've seen some trades for 7th round picks for receivers already. If somebody is lacking a 5th or 6th receiver for depth, one of them could fit the bill.

Is it likely? No. Is it possible? Maybe.

What is interesting is since you posted this, it looks like they might cut Luke. If that's the case, I mean, maybe swing him out to SF to play with his brother and return kicks there? They lost all their WRs already anyway.

You also have no way of knowing this, but I collected Eeyores for the better part of my life. I want to find them and put them out on display again. My wife put them in a box somewhere. Eeyore was my favorite stuffed animal since birth.

It's interesting. There was a lot of positive buzz about Luke at the start of camp. I wonder if this was noise trying to generate interest or if Luke has tailed off.

The team certainly looked like they were serious about trying to find other kick return options. Not sure anyone actually shined though.

He played yesterday.

The following players did not play:
  • Stefon Diggs (No. 3)
  • Dyami Brown (No. 6)
  • Treylon Burks (No. 13)
  • Antonio Williams (No. 14)
  • Terry McLaurin (No. 17)
  • Jaylin Lane (No. 83)

To me that means those 6 make the team at a minimum. McCaffery and Van Jefferson are either out or fighting for the 7th spot if one exists. I could be wrong, but that's the way I read the tea leaves.

Yeah, I think that's right unless they already have a handshake trade with one of the six who didn't play.

It also indicates they don't have a trade partner lined up for anybody who played last night, including McCaffery.

If they had a handshake trade for anybody, though, there's no reason to not just execute it at this point.
