Not to be a jerk towards these seemingly random (but connected to us or Quinn in the past) candidates, but we’re free and clear now to hire whoever we wish, as far as league rules go. Not seeing more mainstream/serious candidates to this point really does make it seem like it’s McDaniel or Blough/bust
Keim just on Sheehan, feels right now McDaniel versus Blough. Though it could change.
D coordinator: Graham, R. Morris, Ulrich.
He says subjecf to change but that seems to be the early front runners.
As to Blough-McDaniel. I am guessing their dream sceanrio is they keep Blough under McDaniel.
This is me extrapolating especially on point #2, I don't know this is a fact. But my guess is Quinn is paranoid about three things:
1. They wait for McDaniel, its takes long enough where they don't land him for whatever reason (mostly likely because he gets a HC offer) and during that time they lose Blough, too and are left holding the bag
2. He got burned when Kyle left and all his assistants left too, some ironically including McDaniel become studs elsewhere, and he doesn't want round 2 of that.
3. The Lions interest I think has made his head spin. If the Lions, who have great weapons, looked great with Blough -- its in Quinn's face.
I think in short the Lions poking around Blough has driven Quinn to paranoia for better or worse. Feels like we are experiencing a football equivalent of a late mid life crisis where Dan is trying not to repeat past mistakes but by acting this way is he overcompensating?
I got no idea. But I would say I like the fact that Quinn seemed shaken by what happened this season. I was a little worried about complaceny. But is he too shaken? It feels like he's willing to fly things against the wall like he has nothing to lose, its weird, but that's how I'd take them hiring Blough.
