Higskin Ya know two things that standout here.

1. McDaniel, I think ends up here. After researching his history with DQ it appears that DQ helped him from alcohol abuse and straightened his life up along with coaching with him and knowing him almost like family for years.

2. Blough has established a bother like relationship with JD. With KK gone and people around the league talking about him highly as the possible next Ben Johnson. What I thought was a shot in the dark may not be.

Haha. Keim with the "possibilities" again.....Anything is fucking possible. He is click baiting.

To some he is but Keim is normally straight up. Seems that way to me anyway.
Keim is no different than any other beat reporter. They all talk about "possibilities". He had a leak in Rivera's staff for sure. And I salute him for acting like he still does. But he does not.

There may be some teams that won't let McDaniel leave the building. Waiting 2-4 weeks to make a move probably won't end with your #1-2 choices remaining. I'm assuming that few people know more about the what and the who about MM than Quinn does. If Quinn is lukewarm on the subject than either DQ isn't smart or is smarter than the rest of us. I'm guessing now that the Rooney Wells interview is done that Wash could make an offer to McDaniel within the next 48 hours (IF coach Quinn is convinced and we can afford him.)

Idk man, Keim isn’t much a click-baiting artist.

On a side note, after looking at the landscape - I’m a little concerned McDaniel could end up with another HC gig. I didn’t even realize that 25% of the league is looking for a new head coach. Phew.

Well that was quick:

Commanders completed their interview with Cowboys TE coach Lunda Wells for their offensive coordinator vacancy.
That was fast. ESPN’s Todd Archer reported on the Commanders’ request to interview Wells just a few hours ago. Wells ostensibly has a relationship with Commanders head coach Dan Quinn from their time together with the Cowboys in 2021-2023, and Wells is said to have been a “big part of game planning” since the Cowboys hired him in 2020.

This is assuming MM won’t be taking head coach interviews before discussing OC opportunities.

Respectfully, that's not my take and how do you know he had a so called "leak" in Rivera's staff for sure?

I agree. Although I think a HC opportunity wont happen again for McDaniel for a quite a while. He is young and needs to grow for a while. My take for him as an OC is this is probably the best fit for him. Complete control of an offense. With an established frail franchise QB. McDaniel will get the most out of JD while protecting him. I mean he had a basically braindead Tua playing well for multiple seasons.

I have this suspicion we’re going to hire Blough.

And we’ll all be upset at first. And then we’ll all (mostly all) give them benefit of the doubt to hope.

As I said earlier - Blough might wind up being great. He way overachieved in his playing career because of his football IQ, but… ya. That would be tough to swallow.

The fact media keeps suggesting him as a possibility feels like a way to tenderize the fanbase for his appointment if we don’t wind up with McDaniel.

We were hearing about Blough as a potential successor to Kliff as early as last offseason, though. Clearly someone sees something that makes him a worthwhile consideration. Blough could be the next McVay.

Right now, at this moment, it seems like it. In the end (guesstimating) and it would be a bummer if it didn't happen, I think McDaniel becomes our new OC. Personally, I think the dude might be fried mentally with HC responsibilities after getting canned in Miami and OCing for a year or two might be his best bet. There seems to be a HC revolving door opening or openings each year.

He could be but his biggest pull right now is his relationship with Jayden Daniels. Jayden could be in AP/DQs ears right now talking Blough up right now. I hope DQ and if AP is involved do what is best for Jayden Daniels and his development. We know DQ didn't think it was KK.

It's been mere hours since McDaniel was fired. Likewise, I am sure there are candidates on the 9ers, Rams, Seahawks, among others we'll want to talk to.

We know nothing.

Blough has a future but his inexperience is worrisome to me. I would rather go with McDaniel and when he leaves, Blough should be ready by then, even if it's just one year. I don't envision McDaniel being an OC for long if our offense looks good

Probably between Blough and McDaniel.

Could very well be and might explain canning Bobby Johnson while keeping other staff, and bringing in Wells for an "OC" interview

It would be a real roll of the dice for DQ, ballsy (crazy) since his future rests heavily on his 2 new coordinator selections
