There's no doubt dallas is a more attractive opening in pretty much every conceivable way but sometimes there are unseen or unknown factors.

Maybe he likes this area more.

Maybe he doesn't like the thought of working for Jerry jones.
This is total speculation but flores is suing several teams for racial discrimination and jones doesn't exactly have a squeaky clean history when it comes to that subject.

Who knows but him taking an interview with us shows its not an impossibility.

The JJ situation is always a legitimate concern. That said, if he were to go to Dallas and succeed…there is probably no more valuable owner to have on your side through an NFL shadow war.
 
I find it mind boggling Dallas is a better destination--they arguably have a worse defense than we do and are run by Jerry Jones. They have no cap space, they make idiotic decisions time and time again (trading Parsons, extending Bland)...and they're run by a senile nutjob.

I am not sure it is the more attractive opening. As already discussed, Jerry Jones. And it's not like they have great defensive pieces anymore. And they don't have Jayden Daniels. They's got a proven top 12 QB that has also proven he can't get them anywhere substantive. A proven top 10 offense. Regular season offense. What do they actually have? Brand recognition?

I'd take Washington if they were willing to make heavy FA and draft investments in the defense in the offseason.

Agreed on jones as I stated earlier but they have more draft capital, I think most would say they probably have more talent on the defensive side of the ball but I wouldn’t call it a runaway.
They have an offensive head coach, which is huge because he's going to get full control of the defense and be unquestioned, may not get that luxury here and they have a well established top offense which helps a defense a lot, we have an offense in flux with question marks everywhere.
 
Would love either Flores or DMcD, but I see them going after HC gigs. I know Quinn went to coordinator before back to the HCing world but not sure these guys would. My money is on Flores if I had to bet on one.

Funny thing, two coaches kind of blacklisted are two we are high on, Flores and Williams.

Also if you think back over the past 30 years, the most endeared coaches for most Washington fans are probably Gibbs, Williams, and maybe Schotty and McVay
 
Ravens and Steelers are the only "good" HC openings right now IMO. If you're McDermott or Flores and you don't get either one of those jobs, would you really rather land in Tennessee or Vegas or would you wait a year and see if the Bengals job opens up, or another more attractive destination?

For Flores yes, I was thinking of McDermott who obviously is not a candidate for the Bills job.

The problem with Flores/McDermott hires is they're likely to be one-and-done. Karl Scott would probably stay for a few years, and the continuity will be important.

Pittsburgh had him in the building for a year and they have a tradition of defensive Head Coaches. It would be a natural fit, although they might want to turn the page and pick an offensive guy. Hard to say with these old school organizations moving on from long-tenured "culture-setting" HCs.

Baltimore more than Pittsburgh seems likely to pick an offensive guy. Ditto Buffalo.
 
On the surface, I'd rather "buy" Karl Scott than "rent" Flores/McDermott. Meaning let's get a guy who we have conviction will be here for 3 years rather than a one-and-done that puts us back in this position a year from now.
 
You know what's crazy is that the so called GOAT is still coaching and I haven't heard his name even mentioned one time for a job. I forgot all about him until I just saw that he's going to be an analyst for one of the National Championship shows.

Man how the mighty have fallen. He doesn't even have any buzz in college going into next season along with not being considered for pro jobs. I could be wrong but I don't even hear of anyone going there in the portal.
