I’d have no interest in him even if Quinn was out on his ass, I’ve followed the Steelers struggles for years and Tomlin’s archaic decision-making is the heart of it even though he’s a good coach. But I’m sure he’ll have interest next year from teams, if he does take a gap year at FOX.

Didn't realize that. These HC trades are expensive. Denver gave up a 1st and 2nd for Payton and I believe the Bucs gave up 2 1sts for Gruden back in the day. Definitely would not want to give up a 1st for Tomlin
 
Keim's podcast today, thinks the Flores leak is from his agent, seems skeptical that it will happen for now.

Probably waiting still to see if R. Morris and Ulbrich to be free.

Seems to hint that Dennard Wilson is a serious contender for the job.

I dont doubt this but what would Flores have to gain by spreading a rumor that we have interest in him?
Under normal circumstances i see the benefit but hes going for head coaching gigs right now and if his services were made available as a defensive coordinator he'd be red hot.
Doesn't seem necessary at this point to float rumors.

Flores/agent bumping up the offer Minnesota has made to keep him.

This does not feel like a good landing spot for Flores or any top DC options.

Him mentioning Wilson with the two me the obvious 2 is very interesting.

I still say we end up with Morris but wishing for a different decision

Vikings are saying publicly that if Flores doesn't get a HC job, he's coming back. In other words, other NFL teams back off if you think there will be a bidding war for him if he doesn't get a HC job. For Flores to make the case that others teams are really really interested in him, doesn't hurt the negotiation for money with the Vikings if that time comes.

Just like it doesn't hurt any FA to have their agent make the case that they are hot in demand so pay up.

Yeah per usual Keim didn't directly made the point but placed emphasis on Wilson in this podcast so that often has meaning with him as to what he emphasizes.

But he's also been consistent about waiting for R. Morris and Ulbrich.

Gannon I guess might be in conversation after his interview tomorrow.

Which is interesting. They're waiting for Morris or Ulbrich, but moved quickly onto Blough, and didn't wait for McDaniel.

I assume there are two reasons.... (1) they expect McDaniels to get a HC position, and (2) Quin is a defensive head coach and can call plays if needed. It's pretty clear that's not plan A but nailing down an OC is more important if we don't have anyone in house that we are comfortable with (outside of Blough).

It's weird. Something that me and a few others including Conn are discussing about Quinn in the coach hiring process.

Blough seemed to be partly an overreaction to the Lions potentially hiring him. And him succeeding there. Wouldn't it be ironic if his impatience with the process helps lead that same team, the Lions, land McDaniel and they kill it?

If Quinn is having some sort of existential coaching crisis -- lol add that to the mix of his neurosis if that went down.

There are and he interviews with them today and us tomorrow, I believe. Dallas will probably go hard for Gannon. One thing, I think they have their sights set on Ulbrich just like we do. Exciting to watch this play out.

I think the speed here ties to them thinking Blough is truly special and the lack of other quality options available beyond McDaniel (and perhaps Stefanski).

For DC, there seem to be a lot of qualified folks available. Where they could screw themselves is if the Atlanta cycle takes longer than other processes. As we know, staffs can fill quick. I think the signaling is Ullbrich is at the top of their list and are waiting to talk to him. Otherwise, they could go hire Morris, Graham (who is getting HC interviews) or Wilson tomorrow
