Gave us a great Monday Night win when we usually suck.

Completed a Hail Mary in a game that would be considered "typical Redskins choke", and to a former Cowboy WR(usually, those acquisitions go nowhere) in Noah Brown.

But Brown came from Houston where the CJ Stroud pixy dust rubbed off on him 😎

I agree with the sentiment but to me, it’s really Harris.

Adam Peters and his staff. Quinn and his staff.

Random players are making plays and showing up. #28’s jersey retirement handled with class.

Just a new day in Washington. People talk about how it “starts at the top” when referring to the state of an organization. 25 years of Snyder, vs 1 full year with Harris, it really shows to be true.

Absolutely this.

I was listening to the Beltway Football podcast this morning (JP and Mitch) and they were talking about how the game day experience is absolutely transformed from previous years. Laser shows, the giant flag, veterans at the game, everything is just being done to a different level.

And then you have the feeling that they've spared no expense on getting the right GM and an all-star coaching crew.

This just seems so.... professional. LOL

Even in the Gibbs 2.0 era or the Shanahan era, it always kind of feels that in hindsight that the organisation was hamstrung from the top. Be it in where money was spent, who was drafted, what the Front Office structure looked like etc.
Now it just seems like there's no blockers on just getting the job done properly. It's refreshing.

To boot: he assembled a large group to way overpay for a crap brand, and org in total financial ruin. He convinced people to pool together 6 billion dollars to buy a troubled asset that needed a lot of work and investment, and time (unless you draft Jayden Daniels and he starts as a all time best QB… which no one would bet on)

There’s a reason he was the only serious bidder. It was super overpriced.

He did it anyways. We have a lot to thank him for. Without him and his group, Snyder goes down the route of getting a real assessment of what the team is worth. At that point - we’d have a different owner, or maybe Snyder doesn’t sell for its real value.

Harris saved our franchise. If he does a good job him and his minority owners will make a lot of money. But they risked a lot on the proposition of “we will do things right, and it will bring back the fan base, and it will generate us money”.

This week represents another Norvous one. Has Daniels exorcised the Giants' curse? We beat them once, but they still play so much better against us then anyone else. Imagine 7-2!

There are some definite lessons from last night's game for Washington.

1. DO NOT run the ball straight up the gut play after play on first down because Dexter Lawrence is a beast to try and move. He beats double teams regularly.

2. DO NOT sit back and allow Jones to get comfortable in pocket. Steelers rarely blitzed and gave up a lot of chunk plays.

3. Giants corners are soft and can be beaten, the trick is to get the ball out in space quickly before the rush alters the play call. Pittsburgh was calling a lot of 5 and 7 step drops and couldn't protect. They never really did adapt to the rush. They got lucky at the end.

Stastically the Giants are 8th and 9th on D in pass yds allowed and passing TDs allowed, but are 27th in rush yds allowed. That says pound the rock to me but maybe do it more creatively than just pounding it up the gut.

One of the few other areas where the Giants are pretty good is in 3rd down defense - they are currently 7th in the NFL on 3rd down so we will have to do better than we did against the Bears in sustaining drives.

Since this is the first ‘repeat opponent’ of the 2024 season I am interested to see what the coaching brain trust learned from the first meeting.

The key to running the ball on the Giants is to run AWAY from Dexter Lawrence and hit the outside where the edge players are small and can be pushed off the line of scrimmage.

The Steelers were doing just the opposite. They kept running Najee Harris up the middle for 1 and 2 yard gains, seemingly ignoring the size mismatches on the outside.

Washington needs to utilize the quickness of Austin Ekeler to make some plays and open things up for Brian Robinson. But running inside is going to be difficult if there is no threat on the outside and Lawrence is standing there waiting to gobble up the backs.

There were also a lot of plays that were left on the field by Pittsburgh. There were plays where the TE wasn't covered at all and Russell Wilson missed it.

Wilson was frustrating to watch on Monday Night as he made several outstanding throws but then would inexplicably threw the ball in the dirt short of a receiver or miss the open play.

Not blitzing Daniel Jones through 3 quarters was also a big mistake.

Pittsburgh seemed caught up in the 'we don't have to blitz because we are such a great rush team' mentality on defense.

It wasn't until late that they started sending Minkah Fitzpatrick and the Giants never picked it up.

Jones will crumble and lose confidence if he sees free rushers.

Del Rio played right into Jones' game by dropping 7 and only rushing 4 and that gave Jones the opportunity to have some of his best games in the NFL against us.

Remember that 5 touchdown game?

If Jones can beat a 0 blitz on 3rd and 18 then hats off to him. But I want to see him do it before I give him that much respect to play coverage against that offense.
