I know we're only two games in but right now, Sweat and Young are averaging 1.5 sacks per game. I'm sure these defensive coaches have been focusing on what the Jets defense did against the Bills a couple weeks ago. Of course everyone knows the Bills are a terrific team but they haven't faced the likes of this d-line.

We are not getting enough love for what this defensive front is accomplishing and until we start doing it against top tier teams like the one we play Sunday, we won’t.

I would say right now, there’s some grudging respect. If we keep this up, we will be geared and talked about. I hope we rock the NFL pundit world on Sunday although it may be a little early to hope for that. But I believe.

Weather conditions will also likely play a part… if it’s sloppy, a battle of the trenches will be a major part of the outcome of the game

Respect is earned, not given.

Historically, the sports media has never liked this franchise...even in the Gibbs Glory years. The only way they talked about them was when they had to(team performance made them).

Always remember that.

Teams turn it around every year in the NFL DP. You don’t have to have Joe Gibbs and a Super Bowl to deserve recognition. Someone brought up earlier this week that a Dallas defender is already a shoe-in for DPOY and we’re 2 games in and his stats are surpassed by one of our guys. But we know how that works.

I’m not ‘anointing’ anyone. I’m just saying they’ve been damn impressive. And that’s just the truth.

So far… :)

We have always known immense talent exists along this front, but I have never really seen it it come together cohesively in past seasons with all guys firing on all cylinders. The Denver game gave me a clue that maybe we are inching closer towards that and this certainly intrigues me for what still might be in store as we move forward this season. I personally don't think we have seen their peak yet as a unit along the defensive front.

Yes, this defense needs to eat and stay hungry.

Here’s one thing I know… and let me preface it by saying that it is exactly the way it should be given this team’s history and our collective fan experiences.

No one is going to give us a chance to consistently beat quality teams until we show we can do it - repeatedly. Until then, the snark, skepticism, and lack of belief is going to continue. Hell - it’s logical and warranted.

But I’m telling you guys, something has changed. I don’t know if it’s Snyder being gone, a reenergized fanbase, Sam Howell, or Eric Bienemy - but this year feels different.

You may be right John. I just haven't seen enough to believe it yet.

"Lucy" has pulled the ball away one too many times for me.

It's why I cringe when the pundits on the NFL network or National Sports Radio start talking about Sam Howell after his third start or talking up the defense when really, they haven't done anything yet.

I'd rather they just shut up, leave them alone and let them grow.

this is my only concern, if it doesn't go out to sea... it's gonna be ugly.

I am not sure an ugly wet field, which one would think means a lower scoring affair, favors Buffalo. I think we have a stronger rushing game.

'concern' was more about weather... not on the game

A mud hole benefits us big time. Buffalo likely wants a shootout, we do not. 40 MPH winds left to right plays right into our hands with the dawgs we have up front.

I get it. I don't even feel like I should have to say 'I get it'. How could anyone NOT get it?

On the other hand, things can be different - because they ARE different. I'm not asking anyone to 'believe'. That has to happen for all of us (if it ever does) on our own individual schedule and timeline. And even in 'believing', one can end up looking like a homeristic ass detached from reality. But we should be open to the fact that things can and might be different now. Back to the original point.... Washington's defense has played about as well as anyone in the league so far. Why isn't it okay to say that?

As for the Lucy analogy. Fuck Dan Snyder and fuck Lucy too :)
