Anybody here from madrid or know the area?

Is it worth making it my first trip ever over the pond?

Never been to Madrid but I have been to all the neighboring countries. My advice is to watch out for pick pockets. Get one of those wallets you can slip inside your pants.

I'd get a second wallet and put a single note in it that read "go fuck yourself asshole" and I'd leave that in my back pocket.

Not only would it be fun to see if one of those bastards could lift it, I'm neurotic to the bone when it comes to my wallet, if someone so much as breathes on me when I'm in a crowd I immediately touch my back pocket, I don't see any way someone could get it.

But if they were able to it'd be so satisfying knowing the treat they had in store.

In addition to your note, I would add some monopoly money.

Four of us booked the Westin Cuzco for Thursday-Tuesday. It's a 10 minute walk to the stadium from there & close to a subway station. Still deciding where else we'll go while we're in EU - Venice, Amsterdam, Paris on the list of options. Other suggestions? This is our first time to EU. We went to the WAS vs. CIN game at Wembley and had a great time. We're hoping the NFL experience in Madrid will be similar. It will be hard to beat the UK experience.

I've heard amazing things about Barcelona.

Wander around the old quarters in Barcelona. Visit as much Gaudi related stuff as possible, see old ruins under the city (the city is built on top of stuff thousands of years old). The beach gets hype, but hard pass. Too many aggressive panhandlers, can't leave bags unattended, etc. If you really want a nice beach take the commuter from Barcelona to Tarragona (it also has the best preserved Ancient Roman Amphitheater). Or hit up the beaches in Basque country but that's a much bigger trip.

Honestly thought Madrid was the worst city we went to, but Spain has loads of nice cities that each have their own vibe.

Ok. I have a question, especially for those who have Netflix in the Virginia - Maryland area.
Rumour has it we'll be playing Dallas on Christmas day, on Netflix.
Will that game still be shown on network tv by the local affiliates in the area ?

That's plain silly scheduling them that close. Though those games could very well mean an awful lot. Guessing premier late season drama for the networks and probable flexed times.

They are probably betting the eagles and Washington may be neck and neck for the NFC East division crown at the end of the season and these games will be exciting decision makers.

Liike all grand European cities Madrid is worth a visit. Personally I prefer Barcelona which is the superior city, but Madrid has a lot to offer. A Grand Palace, great galleries, gardens, and the food and drink will be great. The stadium has just been refurbished and is absolutely huge, it should be really loud.

Looking forward to seeing what Commanders Rallies will be happening there over the weekend.

Hmmm, gives me an idea.

Book a week long trip to Barcelona and take the high speed train to madrid for the game.

Wonder if that's feasible.

My opinion only…a week in any city is too long for me. I like your idea but would split it up 50/50.

I agree.
Good plan would be fly in to Barcelona for 3 or 4 days, high speed train Sunday morning to madrid then stay a couple extra days in madrid and fly home.

lol. Scot always kinda makes me feel like he’s a little bit full of shit (we’ve all known drinkers like him who exaggerate and love to relive their own legend) but I do believe this. Although I imagine it was probably Bruce telling Dan to reject Diggs, who was rough around the edges and probably didn’t interview that well.

It would be half bullshit but I’d love a tell-all from McCloughan when the NDA’s expire.
