Commanders News (Social Media)

It's just weird to me that we haven't heard any details about the knee. Normally you hear MCL, ACL. We hear about MRIs. We hear about the treatments they are undergoing to try to speed healing or mitigate the pain. It just feels out of the blue. I'm probably being ridiculous.

I do wonder if the team talked about starting Newton and Allen and Payne threw a fit. I know we fans have been generally unhappy with his play/effort for a while now.

My paranoia (word choice) is probably totally off base. LIke you said, it makes no sense to sit him or for him to pull himself.

This doesn't seem like the type of team that would invite the kind of rift and internal chaos that could come from benching a highly paid starter for the biggest game for this franchise in 33 years.

I'm guessing he's just injured but truth be told I'm not too worried about this loss, his tendency to take plays off going all the way back to college is not what we need in a game where the most crucial thing we have to do is maintain our lane discipline.

Teams do not give out medical condition info much, if at all, especially during the playoffs. Hell, Cosmi was on the injury report this week.

Is that true? It's been so long...

I don't understand why people and the media keep saying "33 years." Is it because 33 was Sammy's number? I don't get it.

Edit: Now I get it <duh>

Considering that it was SB 26, and this one will be 59, and the fact that 59-26=33, yeah I'm pretty sure.

What about the 1999 season? What about the NFC Championship game the Redskins played in January, 2000 against the Tampa Bay Bucs? I don't understand. Does that game not count because we lost?

they lost to the Bucs the week before.

The Bucs lost to the Rams. The Rams beat Tennessee 23-17 or something like that.

You're absolutely right. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Apparently, my brain ain't rite. :p

Yeah. I was starting to wonder where you were going with it. Maybe I ended up in the wrong reality or something lol.

For what it's worth, we were without Jon Allen for both Eagles' games this season. Par for the course, as we have yet to play with the pair of first round DTs in the lineup against Philly all season. The team has done it against all odds all season. There is no point in worrying now. Get out there and play.
