Terry McLaurin was one of four Washington Commanders who was named to the Pro Bowl this week. The selection was the first of Terry's NFL career thus far.

This week, I would like to get the BGO community's thoughts on #17. When his career is all said and done, do you think we are going to be talking about a future Hall of Famer and top three receiver in franchise history?

Has McLaurin shown enough for you to this point that he can become that level of player?

Have at it, BGO.

Top 3 is a possibility. HOF is going to require better QB play for the duration and avoiding serious injury.

Top 3 currently are Charley Taylor, Art Monk, and Gary Clark?

Monk
Clark
Sanders
Taylor
Moss
Mclaurin

That's in no order for me. Those are just the ones I thought of off the top of my head. I'd put, Monk, Clark, and Taylor first right now as top three, but the others are still better at the moment than terry.

Being a HOF WR is very difficult. It will be even more difficult as the game continues to pass more than it used to. But look back at what happened to Monk and how he had to wait. He wasn’t the only WR to wait. Cris Carter, Michael Irvin, and Andre Reed among others have had to wait to get in. So reaching that mark will be really hard. And I agree with Chris that he can’t get here without a better QB.

But he could definitely end up top 3 in franchise history. The top 2 are easy being Monk and Taylor. I think there is a big gap after that. Clark and Moss are the next 2. Clark gets the love because of the teams he played on, and rightfully so. Moss had a ton of production but was in an era of this franchise we all would like to forget. But if you go back and watch highlights from that time, Moss is making big plays and big catches in almost every highlight package. So Terry could end up in this group, he could even make it into the top 3. It will depend on the QB and then his longevity and how long he stays in DC.

I actually think that Clark is being penalized because of the teams he played on, similar to Jacoby. 4x Pro Bowl, 1x All Pro, and 2x Super Bowl winner.

He is definitely talented enough to be a HOF candidate but unfortunately his stats are good not elite-level so far. As Chris said, if we can somehow finally find a top tier QB that immediately changes things. To see what he’s done with a handful of mediocre barely serviceable QBs is amazing. The other big factor is whether he can stay healthy enough to have a long career. And one factor that is in his favor is character and leadership. When your HC publicly refers to you as the ‘face of the franchise’ that is about as high praise as you can get - and to achieve that status as a non-QB is really something.

I’ve always felt our best all-time WR was Charley Taylor and then I actually tank Gary Clark ahead on Monk in terms of sheer talent. I know most won’t agree with that but that’s just how I see it.

If Stallworth is in the HOF because of Swann pushing for it. Clark should be, too

I’ve talked about this before - especially when it comes to HOF - but pedigree’ (where you came from and where you were drafted) has an impact on how players are viewed. It’s not right but it does. Being drafted in the ‘supplemental draft’ out of James Madison University makes it tougher. Anyway, back to Terry McLaurin :)

So, the refs that screwed our game up were obviously punished.

They get the Sunday night game tonight. Good to see the NFL takes being bad at your job seriously.

This is something that has always bothered me. There is very little accountability with refs in any sport. I know they will not be perfect, but they have a free pass to mess up as much as they want with no one holding them responsible. When I coached softball and the umpires missed easy calls and I’d get into an argument, I would tell them that calling balls and strikes are hard and I get that, but you can’t miss the easy calls. It the same way in the NFL. Get the obvious calls right and you will get a little more grace on the harder calls.
