Chase Young

At this point, the hype bar is pretty low.

I also think sometimes it’s not about the stat numbers alone. Often it’s about when we need guys to make big plays and how often they can or cannot deliver. That’s the ‘impact’ part of an ‘impact player’… We don’t have enough guys on D making a big play when we critically need one and that’s certainly the case with Young.

Exactly, Boone.

I was thinking this same thing late in the game on Sunday when the announcers were talking about how Hurts had told them someone on the Eagles team always steps up to make a play when they really need it. I don't see that same thing with the Commanders' defense (I believe I am starting to see it with the offense though!). We needed stops that we just didn't get in the 4th Qtr and in OT. That is where we need our big money, highly drafted guys to take it on themselves to make something happen. This starts squarely with the 4 guys on the defensive line and Chase in particular, I think.

Rivera said they were gassed. What is conditioning? I'm sure that says the defense isn't in game shape yet. Whose fault overall? Tugboat Ron, keeps pulling that game check in. But, f*** it, HTTR!

I’ve been very tough on Chase, so only fair to say he was the best we had to offer last night. He played with intensity and heart and was one of the few defenders who created problems for the Bears offense. Where the hell were the rest of our ‘marquee’ players? I didn’t hear Daron Paynes name all night.

Yeah, last night was not a Chase problem. It was a DB’s chase problem.

I’ve said it before but JDR’s defense is an anti-synergistic unit. They are less than the sum of their parts not more.

Leverro actually had a funny line after the game- (paraphrase)

I wonder if Del Rio considers last night a dust up?

Payne caused a fumble that took a lucky Bears bounce. Pretty sure he also had a run stuff or two but otherwise was quiet.

However, I don't think he has had a sack since Week 1.

Again, I'm really curious to see what an aggressive DC would do with this unit.

And yeah, Chase looked more like Chase last night. He was not the issue on defense at all.

Young was the best defensive player last night, but it’s of little consolation. The defense as a whole was so bad. The DBs were a disaster and the d line did not get enough pressure too many times. It seems like that is often the case with this d line. Very few times are they all playing well. And yes, I know one or two guys will be double teamed and taken out, but the other guys should step up and then they move the double team to someone else, allowing the rest to step up. That’s just not happening.

Not to mention they ran ALL over us. Herbert averaged 7.6 ypc.
