I ultimately think this is going to be a solid player for us and definitely fills a need in our secondary. I am glad the front office recognized that there are multiple pieces that need to be added to our secondary, I am personally just not sure that doubling down so early on this unit trumped other needs.

It was really hard to stomach this selection at #47 when arguably the best pure guard and center were both sitting there to be taken (Torrence and Schmitz). Those easily would have been plug and play starters on our offensive line. I could see both of them carving out Pro Bowl careers in Buffalo and New York, based on how they have been regarded in the pre-draft processes.

I think this is the issue most of us have with the draft so far. Of course, for all we know, they had this kid rated above those two - who knows? But I don't know how you look at this roster and view secondary as a bigger priority than OL - I just don't get that. The problem is, I think our drafts have been good recently because our scouting department is doing a stellar job and this front office actually makes picks based on their feedback. But when it comes to free agency, we are pretty much a disaster. So looking at the current OL, 'rebuilt' in a Ron Rivera free agency, color me highly skeptical this is a top notch or even above average OL.

Couple that concern with a new OL coach, new offensive playbook and scheme, and essentially a rookie starting QB - you'd think bolstering the OL would be priority 1, right? If the OL blows up in 2023 or if Sam Howell is under constant duress, I'm going to be laying a lot of the blame at the feet of Eric Bienemy, not just Rivera and Mayhew.

Chris Simms, thanks for the Pepto.

Yeah, the only problem is, when's the last time he was impressively correct with one of his takes?

I think Martin is a baller, and I'm not unhappy we added him, just not sure he fills such a critical need that we needed to take him in the 2nd. But I'm just a fan.

You will be if your/my/all of our initial WTF reactions prove to be loud wrong.
