Burner's Burning Questions: Predicting The Fifty-Three Man Roster And Practice Squad,

Ha! If I could do 10% the job that BB does, I'd be honored to fill his shoes.

I can't, so I won't. I'm really just here to make smart ass comments anyway.

Always impressed with the high level of detail and effort that you put into these for us BB. I know it often must go unrecognized, but to me, you are an incredible fan and an even more incredible member of this community. Thanks so much for all that you do.

Reiter might be developing after all. From this morning.

Keep getting asked by the diehards about backup centers. Here's how they rank: 1. Long. 2. Reiter. 3. LeRibeus.

Perry Riley costs us $5 million against the cap this season and he's only a $1 million hit to cut. I'll be surprised if he makes the roster.

Do we need cap space?

IMO, we need a veteran running back, a veteran center and perhaps a DL as well if any run-stuffers become available.

I'm probably in the minority but I don't see McLovin rushing out to sign another RB before the season begins. I don't see any need to do so.

MJ is expected back in a few weeks and this will give the young guys a chance to shine.

Now if they don't impress, I could see us signing a Pierre or Ronnie Hillman type of vet after the season begins.

And this is the best time to find out what they got.
With Jones out, they'll be with the first team offense, and going against 1st stringer defenders in the 3rd preseason game, the game when supposedly we face 1st stringers the longest.

Get ready for the greatest performance of R. Kelly's career !!!

Karlos Williams is suspended for the first 4 games. MJ will be back by then, so that makes no sense.

McLovin isn't going to trade any draft picks for a top RB. That would push MJ down the list. That's not going to happen.

So which RB would you suggest they sign, tr1?

Exactly, that's why they won't sign anyone at least until the season starts.

I feel like Ryan Grant always has a solid preseason, only to do nothing in the real games. I'd be for letting him go, and having another newer/younger guy take his spot.

Matt Jones may not be back until the opener or the following week.

Prudence would dictate to the front office that going with Kelley and Mack Brown with no safety net for the offense and for Kirk in pass protection is probably not the responsible option.

I don't see McCloughan giving up a draft choice for a running back, but I do think the team will sign a veteran who has experience in pass pro and can be a spot starter if needed.

Need to see more, but I'm intrigued by TJ Thorpe. As our punt returner/special teams/BU WR.

He seems to be a no dancing, get up the field tough guy. Crowder seems to shaky, so far.

Anybody know much about the guy?

Like to see him get a whole preseason game as the primary returner. I think he plays coverage too, right?

Hmmm...

Yup, everything is going swimmingly. No need to panic. Genius coaching staff. Genius GM. Silly to question any of their moves.

Your hypernegativity is very tiresome. Yes, we all know there are areas that need improvement, but your chicken little nay say constant bashing routine makes one wonder why in the hell you are even a fan at this point?

You of course, have every right to be a worried fan after years of bad teams and play, but would it freaking kill you to say one positive thing from the plethora of positive things that have happened with this team in the past 2 years?

I swear, you must wake up with a giant cleveland steamer on your chest daily from the piss pot attitude you exhibit.

Now that I've gotten that "off my chest" (pun intended)

a dose of positive thoughts...

I'm loving the receiving aspects of this team, such great depth and breadth from the WR's and TE's especially. I am personally very excited to see how this talented group could be capitalized upon this season.

I'm also really liking the defensive backfield. The flexibility they are seeming to provied is really exciting to ponder.
