Burner's Burning Questions: Free Agency, The Mock Drafts, 2017 (Continual Updates)

I see no need for any QB today. Unless the staff really believes that guy is an upgrade over Suds. I do like the kid from Miami to develop.

I love the idea of more DL, a S or even another LB.

On the offensive side, a TE seems to make a lot of sense. RB and a G have merit too.

Matt Jones is an obvious goner. Wonder if we kick the tires on Samaje Perrine today?

I tend to agree with this statement. I'm starting to think we take a QB in the 4th - Peterman, Dobbs may make sense.

John Keim: "I've been told by a few people that they don't think Kirk Cousins will ever re-sign here."

Expect ODU defensive lineman Rashaad Coward to be targeted in the 6th round. Has been in contact with Bears, Broncos, and Redskins.

Top skill players available: RB-Samajae Perine, Jeremy McNichols, Marlon Mack; WR Dede Westbrook, Chad Hanson TE Jake Butt, Jordan Leggett.

Cousins is going to get a megadeal before 1 July.

I'm talking 5 year deal, $125 million, $75 mill guaranteed.

Holy crap Boone! I "might" consider $60 mil guaranteed but do you think anyone else would go that high? Then again, I'm wondering if he's gonna charge Danny more than he would anyone else.

The longer we wait the higher it goes. If it's $75 million guaranteed at this point it's our own fault.

The Non-Exclusive Franchise Tender kind of negates that statement.
Who's going to give up 2 Firsts for Kirk ?

Its gotta be more than the $ at this point. Both sides would have pushed to get the deal done by now. The lingering seems more along with what Mcluvs and Klein stated that he just doesn't want to be here.

I think it IS the $$. He wants at least what the tag calls for in 2017. Can't say I blame him. We don't want to pay that much. But guessing we are just trying to get the best deal I can. You offer him a big ass contract, he's going to have a hard time saying no.

If they tag him again the following season they will have to give him partial ownership in the franchise.

I don't understand why the front office neglects the DT/NT position and they have done so again this offseason. Expect some improvements on defense, but it will be minimal.

Improvement on defense isn't just about the draft. We added a few guys in free agency. We also have an entirely new defensive staff that is likely going to be much more aggressive than Joe Barry ever was. Those factors alone should result in better defense. But in terms of the draft I would say just the first 3 pickups in the draft will provide more than a little boost to the D. Why so down BB? Yeah, we did not focus on DT/NT like I thought we might but it was overall a great defensive draft.

The focus on DBs seems like a little overkill. I'd rather see us take chances on positions like OL and DL where guys might have a chance of making the roster or practice squad.

If Phil Taylor doesn't work out, I think you will come to see why I am saying these things.
