I thought he was a pretty good guard for them. The move to Center wasn't a good one for him but he did what was asked of him. One doesn't play for 9 years without being able to contribute.

Nice list, Win.

Pretty deep draft for CB's so maybe they'll wait to get one later but he has great size/speed combo.

Jarron Jones - good choice especially considering the guys around him in the draft. He probably lets Ryan get more sacks.

Ethan Pocic - (weight: 307). I like Jon Toth (Height: 6-4. Weight: 308.), Kentucky a bit more. He's a slightly more stocky, quite a bit quicker plus a tad longer arm length even though 2" shorter.

Richie Brown - another good choice. Not the fastest guy but a sure tackler, solid against the run and versatile.

Vincent Taylor - he skipped his Senior season (don't know why) but the potential is there. I don't know if he'd fall this far but Montravius Adams (Height: 6-4. Weight: 30), 3-4 DE, Auburn would be my choice. Still a project but DE's at this point are going to be a roll of the dice in any case.

Eddie Jackson - Prefer Orion Stewart, S, Baylor Height: 6-2. Weight: 205. Same speed and he has got the size Scot likes plus he's a ball hawk. Maybe some immaturity in 2015 but if that's behind him he'll do well.

Really like Jeremy Sprinkle, tough to get a TE from college that is a good blocker and can make some catches. He also did about the same in 2016 (33/380/4 TDs) as he did in 2015 (27/389/6 TDs) - behind Hunter Henry. Maybe Michael Roberts (Height: 6-4. Weight: 261), Toledo a player to look at also. A good Senior year; 45/533/16 TDs. Both are better blockers coming out over Butt but Butt the better receiver. Which do they need more of? It's rare to get a TE in the draft that blocks well and can catch decently. Two picks in the fourth. Might they go that high for any TE or wait or see who falls (possibly) in the 5th? I suspect they'll wait till at least the fifth where you have a TE.

Not a great video but the Roberts has incredible balance for a big guy.

I'm not really prepared for the 6th round just yet but I haven't seen an RB to place either. Gotta believe they'll draft one somewhere just don't really have an idea when.

Great breakdown JB, very good info. I watch minimal college football so my wish list could be garbage. Pretty much just went to Walter football site and went by the positions I'd want then scroll to that respective round. Nowhere near the breakdowns BB & yourself put into it.

It'll be fun tho to revisit the thread after the draft to see how close or far off we are.

Oh & figured the LSU g/c Pocic would gain some lbs just like Spencer Long did.

Offseason Updates:
With the hiring of Torrian Gray as the new DB coach (via Florida and Virginia Tech), look for a substantially huge improvement from the corners and safeties. Many of his former players are in the league and several are expected to be drafted (some highly) in 2017.

There are some schools of thought (with Redskins pundits and players) that center on Anthony Lanier becoming a good player in the mold of Lorenzo Alexander, but even better.

It is possible that the Redskins could make a run at Eagles DT/DE Bennie Logan in free agency.

Expect Morgan Moses to get a contract extension in the offseason.

There continues to be a growing chorus of insiders and pundits who think Bashaud Breeland could be moving to free safety.

It’s possible that Spencer Long will receive a contract extension this offseason.

There seems to be a strong interest on both sides for impending free agent receiver Kenny Britt. However, two other teams seem interested. If it happens, look for a deal to get done on the first day of free agency.

Personal Thoughts:
With the retirement of Kory Lichtensteiger, my likely to be released list has narrowed to DeAngelo Hall.

I also think it is possible that the team moves on from Niles Paul. I would prefer to keep him, but this is just a wildcard feeling.

If the team cuts ties with DeAngelo Hall, BBQ wouldn’t mind seeing him in a front office role.

I still think we should keep both Garcon, and Jackson. Send Grant packing. Continue to develope Harris & Diggs. And hope Doctson makes beleivers of us all.

Find a rough jewel later half of the draft, or UFA to learn on the practice squad.
 
I would be happy just seeing the Cousins saga resolved quickly, one way or the other.
 
Me too. I think they need to do #8's deal first. But before the sound dies from that announcement, they need to re-sign his 2 top WR's.
Otherwise, they're just wasting the money on #8. IMHO
 
Maybe................If #8 signs a long term cap friendly deal..............we can re-sign Garcon to 2-3yr deal............and then just franchise Jackson.(If he won't sign a team friendly 2-3yr deal)

We can afford that for 1 year, (can't we?) while we learn if Doctson is gonna produce.

Absolutely Pocic could beef up. Most guys coming out of college are still or have the ability to keep growing.

A thought on a FA that I haven't seen yet (but quite possibly missed it). DeAngelo Williams at RB.

Both he and Bell are FA's. Pitt has some cap space at around $30M plus whatever they might do with cuts and stuff. But they probably tag Bell this year and see if he can stay on the field. 4 years and has missed 17 games so maybe not comfortable just yet with handing out $40 or $50 million or so for 4 or 5 years. That said they'll obviously want to keep DeAngelo around but they also have a dozen of their own players hitting FA this year. He's 33 but still playing at a high level and if he's swapping time with Kelly (or whoever else might join in) he'd be a good fit. He's averaged 10 carries a game for the last 3 years so not a lot of recent mileage. $3M this year not overly steep.

Thompson the only RB they have that has shown to be or been used as a receiver but also under 200 touches with 4 fumbles. Doesn't mean to replace Thompson just have DeAngelo in the mix and a solid backup if Kelly went down, even as a backup to Thompson who isn't going to shoulder #1 duties full time in that event. Pretty hard to judge where Brown might fit in just yet - 8 carries & 1 catch isn't much to go on. And Jones probably gone with 8 fumbles in 20 games.

Anyway, cheap insurance considering that RB isn't their deepest position and 4 RBs on the roster with a total of 6 yr's (and Jones has 2). Well, at the very least the Skins should be in the FA market for an RB but how much of one do they need? Realistically, not much. Plenty of youth to test out right now and if it turns out next year that the running game needs a big shot, spend the $$$ then.
 
Offseason Updates And Personal Thoughts:

Will Kirk Cousins be in a different uniform next season? An increasing number of Redskins pundits and journalists think so.
BBQ Says: It is possible. We think it is just a tad too early to lean this direction. We’ll have a clearer picture on the eve of free agency.

Is Bennie Logan truly a target in free agency? This has been widely reported.
BBQ Says: It seems likely, but if other teams get in a bidding war, then the Redskins will bow out of that scenario.

It seems hard to imagine that the Redskins could be moving on from Pierre Garcon. That story seems to be gathering steam.
BBQ Says: Yes, it is gathering steam. However, there is no indication one way or the other from the Redskins front office.

The Redskins seem to have an interest in Kenny Britt (Rams WR).
BBQ Says: This is a very real possibility. He is young and coming off of his best year thus far. However, buyer beware as he could regress to his lazy ways.

DeSean Jackson seems to be saying the right things and his entire family has now relocated to the Ashburn area.
BBQ Says: The front office still seems like it will move on without him. We can’t rule out a change of heart from the decision makers at Redskins Park, but BBQ believes they will move ahead without Jackson.

There has been talk of doing an extension for Morgan Moses one year early.
BBQ Says: Look for this to happen. He is now set at right tackle for many years to come and will only get better. It will also be a good cap saving move for the future.

Will the Redskins look at drafting a center or adding one in free agency?
BBQ Says: It is highly unlikely to see one being drafted. The Redskins will look to re-sign John Sullivan as the backup. Spencer Long cemented his job at center last year and he is likely to get a contract extension/new contract this offseason.

Is Bashaud Breeland really moving to free safety?
BBQ Says: There are strong rumors about it. It probably depends to a certain degree on what the Redskins will do in free agency and the draft. Also, look for the new DB coach to have major input on this decision.

How many new defensive linemen can we expect by the time training camp opens?
BBQ Says: We would expect one in free agency and two in the draft. That probably is not enough for many fans, but that would be our projection. There could be some pleasant surprises. We’ll start to see it how it unfolds in about three weeks.

It will be interesting to see what happens at left guard. Several scenarios are possible.
BBQ Says: Shawn Lauvao is the starter for now with Arie Kouandjio as the backup. Don’t look for a move in free agency, but a guard could be taken in the latter stages of the draft.

The middle linebacker job could be up for grabs, but there are no reports out there as to what may happen.
BBQ Says: Look for Will Compton to be tendered and sign it quickly. It remains to be seen if the Redskins will add a middle linebacker in free agency or the draft.

Running back is a major unknown as we plunge further into the offseason. It seems to be a priority for Scot McCloughan, but not Jay Gruden.
BBQ Says: Don’t look for one to be added in free agency. Many in the know have no idea if Matt Jones will be retained or released. Are the Redskins confident Rob Kelley can carry the load in 2017? Probably not. Is Keith Marshall the answer? Maybe. We do know that Chris Thompson will continue as the third down/passing down back. Will one be added in the draft? Possibly.

Chris Cooley had some strong thoughts regarding Scot McCloughan and alcoholism.
BBQ Says: Chris Cooley is not a medical professional and shouldn’t be giving out medical analysis. If this report is false, then his employment and relationship with the Redskins should be terminated immediately. If the report is true, then he should still be reprimanded with a multi month suspension.

Speaking of Scot McCloughan, what if the report is true?
BBQ Says: The team should stand by him and provide the help he needs. Hopefully he is receptive to the offer.

What should we make of the silence that is imposed on the GM at the combine?
BBQ Says: Stay tuned. BBQ has no knowledge of why this has been ordered. It could be strategic. It could be personal issues. We simply don’t know.

Is Jay Gruden on the hot seat in 2017?
BBQ Says: Possibly. If the Redskins are looking for (possible) stability, they could extend him just after the 2017 season. Gruden needs to be a stabilizing factor this offseason and when the regular season arrives. 2017 is the key to many things regarding Jay Gruden.
 
BB, if we franchise do the franchise/trade scenario, who do you see us grooming for long term answer? Would we draft a QB mid round?
 
I really don't know. My guess is that we go earlier in the draft if a new QB is taken in 2017. Or we could have a veteran placeholder this coming season and draft one next year. The draft for 2018 holds several promising QBs.
